My daughter really enjoyed this book. From her description it seems to combine a compelling story with historical accuracy and give a description of how the Nazi occupation affected families, particularly children.

Welcome to the world of the heyday of jazz. The year is 1936, and the world is open to a young orphan who has happened to find himself on the run.

Curtis writes with zesty personality for Bud and paints a portrait of a very likeable young boy who simply wants what all of us want: a family. He's a great kid with plenty of sass who is ready to take on the world and do what he needs to do to find himself his biological father.

Curtis does an excellent job of painting the culture, ... Read More:

I have a lot of respect for a writer who can take holes, lizards and onions and create an incredible story.

This book was amazing. It held my interest from the very first page. The characters were lovable and interesting (I particularly liked Zero), the plot was fast paced and engaging, the writing style was easy to read and follow. I felt like I was there with the boys digging all those holes.

Once again, kudos to Louis Sacher for creating such a great thought provoking novel out ... Read More:

This is probably one of the books that I read through the fastest. It kept me interested throughout and was difficult to put down. This is one of the first books to ever make me keep reading so I could find out what happens next. I told myself I was only going to read one more chapter and ended up reading three more before going to bed. One of the great things about this book is that it is very short and very easy to read. This isn't one of my favorite books I have ever read but it was very enjoyable and I definitely ... Read More:

This book was pretty good. It is a good book if you want to know survive in the woods. Also it is a good book to see everything you can do with just one hatchet. This is also real good because it is very realistic. I would say that this book could be read by ages ten and up. Also what I thought was cool is that the cover says that it sold over 2,000,000 copies. It probably sold that many copies because it was a real godd book.

This book is about a thirteen year old boy who gets in a plane crash and is stranded ... Read More:

I had to read this in 5th grade and it was torture throughout. The story was good but the way it was written gave no true human reactions and it was a normal book with a weird displaced mistery put into it.

This is the story of Karana, a young Indian girl raised on an island off the coast of California. Supposedly it is based on a true story, and it tells of how she survived on her native island after all of her people were removed and her younger brother was killed. The reader never knows why Karana's people were removed from the island, which would have helped me understand the story a bit better.

While Scott O'Dell is a good storyteller, there are some gaps that I wished he had explained better. For instance, when the Aleuts first ... Read More:

Do you like mystical and mysterious woods? Then this is your book. I really enjoyed reading Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. The story is set in magical and mystical forest. Something exciting happens in Treegap and you never want to stop reading.

I do not recommend this book for kids under the age of 10, unless they have a large vocabulary and appreciation for descriptive language. The reader should be able to appreciate the language Natalie Babbitt uses. The imagery and descriptive writing are very complex. A kid reading this novel ... Read More:

I have read this countless times since the 4th grade, and it still continues to be one of my favorite books ever. The odd thing is that I remember being severely disappointed to learn this was not a fantasy.

But the real story is stronger, that of a deep friendship that affects a young boy for good and bad.

There are so many levels to this book, and thus it becomes clear why these two kids would create a fantasy world for escaping the challenges of the real world. Ironically, it is the time they spend here that allows them to deal with truth ... Read More:

I have been an avid reader for most of my 59 years, but I STILL say
that this is my FAVORITE book of ALL TIME...no matter what genre...
It matters not that it is "recommended" for 9-12 year olds, if YOU
have not discovered this wonderful story, then you must! So many of
us can identify with Billy, the young boy, reared during a time
of great poverty, and his love and devotion to his two pups and the
adventures and lessons they brought into his life. Believe me,
this is NOT just for children, and if you have any time to reminisce,
