| I bought this book thinking that even though it was abridged it would be as great as the original version. Boy was I wrong, some of the most entertaining and interesting parts of the book are GONE!
It was absolutely heartbreaking. I don't know why the publishers have altered a wonderful book leaving it hollow and less interesting than it should be. Do yourself a favor, find an original edition on ebay or half.com . You'll be much happier. |

| My 2 year old son loves this book. He wants to read it at least twice a day, and it always holds his attention until the end. He loves looking for all of the little details in the pictures- for instance, he goes through and shows me all of the pictures that have fire hydrants in them, or all of the characters who are eating apples, etc. Worth every penny and then some! |

| The size is not a problem from me. This book is meant to be held by small hands. My daughter has other books this size that she walks around with pretty much all day.
What bothers me is that two letters are missing. I thought I got a defective copy but I read another reviewer count 24 letters represented in this book. There are 26 letters in the English alphabet. H and I are missing in this book. No room for a Hippo car & Igloo car? No Humvee & Ice Truck? Because of this ... Read More: |

| I owned this as a child, and so did my husband. Both my son (9) and daughter (7) read (and were read to)this book. We just had to throw out our old copy because it was so well loved. I have to buy a new one. My daughter loves all of the chipmunk stories. I'm hoping none of the stories have changed. My favorite if "the polite elephant". Whenever my children go to friends houses I tell them to remember to be a polite elephant- and if you know the story, you know what a wonderful positive thing that is for children ... Read More: |

| I bought this book in preparation for my 2 year old son's first plane ride to grandma's house. We have several Richard Scarry books, so he is used to the chaotic array of images, and this is the book that he goes to several times a day...asking for the plane book.

| I think this is a Richard Scarry Jr book rather than the dad, but it's still classic Scarry, charming and enjoyable. It's no Cars and Trucks or Busy Busy World, nor is it designed to educate your child about firefighters or fire stations, but it's a quick, cute and enjoyable read. |

| Mr Scarry was my children's favorite author. Again, as I read Richard Scarry's books to my grandchildren they loved every character. There was a clear cut character trait and lesson on life to be learned. I bought this book expecting to find my friend Richard Scarry but, this did not even sound like his other books. I was very disappointed. Will I buy another Richard Scarry book. Probably not. |

| This is one of the only books I remember from my childhood. Instead of your typical cutesy little kid story, you have something with real imagination and fun. It's an original story line with very unique illustrations. I know many adult artists who still love this book for its artwork.
