| Having several tough young sporting nephews at the ripe ages nine to twelve, I bought this book. What a breath of fresh air. It's a inspirational book for young boys who love to indulge in games, projects, risk and adventures. When I ask about his days at school, I hear nothing but horror stories about the feminist teachers and school system which punishes and ridicules masculinity at every turn. | I gave three "girl" books to my granddaughter for her 10th birthday this summer. The Big Book of Girl Stuff is far and away her favorite. She has carried it around with all its variant covers, shared it with friends and older cousins and regaled the whole family with facts and funnies--to her delight. |

| This book is absolutely hilarious, written from a dog's point of view and is so accurate. This is a must read for dog owners or anyone who loves dogs. I laughed and nodded my head in agreement throughout the entire book. A pure delight and very light-hearted read. |

| The American Boy's Handy Book by Daniel Beard is a guide book for boys. It includes directions for knots, kite building, camping without a tent, and how to build a snow fort, just to name a few. The book was originally published in 1882 and is filled with black and white drawings. While I think it's wonderful to introduce young boys to the joys of the outdoors, they will have some difficulty with the language of the book. | I purchased this for my 8 yr old grandsons to stash in the camper, thinking there would be some cool things for them to do outdoors. I was shocked to find that most of the "activities" were NOT geared for children. Like, "How to Tell a Woman's Bra Size". There is crude humor and "magic tricks" that are definitely adult oriented. I would truly question the word "boy" on the title of this book, but then, I have known several 24 yr old boys for this would be perfect. Please do not purchase this for boys under the age of 16! | Wow, what a great book! It has tons of experiments, jokes and indoor and outdoor activities that are fun and sometimes educational. Now, it must be admitted that some of the entries are a little gross (see "Pooping and Peeing" on page 74), but it must be admitted that boys find such things terribly funny.
Overall, I found the book to be really funny with a lot of entertainment jam-packed into it. My fifteen-year-old son loves reading me jokes from it, laughing while he tries to get the words out. Please do not take this book too seriously ... Read More: |
