| After Wayne hit the jackpot in John Ford's groundbreaking Western STAGECOACH (1939) he was quickly reunited with his co-star Claire Trevor in ALLEGHENY UPRISING (1939) and again here in the DARK COMMAND (1940). Directed by Raoul Walsh, the man who incidentally gave young Michael Morrison his first starring role as a very young "John Wayne" in THE BIG TRAIL (1929) but it was a box office failure and Wayne was relegated to mainly B-Westerns until rescued by John Ford.

| To each his own. I like movies about early American life which makes an attempt to show life as it was then. The story is interesting but not overly believable concerning the Indian girl being the daughter of an Indian chief ... but you get the feel of life as it was then. We must remember, without some story of interest, who would buy the video. I had seen this on TCM and wanted my own copy to give to my grandchildren. |

| It was suppose to be in color, but with ongoing problems ...like always..
MGM shot it in black and white. Im so used to see Nelson and Jeanette in black in white that i does not bother me anymore... The Love stories are always a pleasure to watch and the signing usually melts me down. There was some ongoing friction between the two stars when the movie was filmed but it does'nt show. Lots of people can sing, but none can beat the duo of Nelson Eddy and Jeanette Macdonald.....Music ... Read More: |

Like the other reviewers of this video (Westward Ho the Wagons)Westward Ho, I saw this film in the theater. I recall a delightful Disney production with typical Disney production values. The video copy that I received (at a rather steep price) was a very poor quality copy of a television production that itself had been cut to fit a TV time slot. The commercial breaks were obvious and badly blended into the video. The sound was poor and the picture quality was bad (almost colorless) in as much as it was washed out. ... Read More: |

| Cheyenne Warrior is a lovely film, with romance and action. I highly recomend it and I'll give it a dice cast of 6!!!
It tells the story of an white woman and a wounded warrior, who must stick together (weather they like it or not) to survive. And as time goes by they even fall in love with one another. But their different nations keeps draging them apart... |

| "Giant" is a larger-than-life 1950s soap opera filled with all sorts of rivalries, oil derricks, class warfare, and cattle barons. Rock Hudson plays Jordan "Bick" Benedict who brings home an Easterner (Elizabeth Taylor) as his bride. Bick's sister, Luz, doesn't take none too kindly to new bride Leslie whereas ranch hand Jett Rink quite clearly does. Leslie herself is appalled that women are to be seen and not heard, and that no one seems the least perturbed that Mexican workers on the ranch live in squalid conditions.
