VHS : Animaniacs: Helloooo Holidays
Just sat back and watched this tape with the family last night for the first time in a few years. Boy this is some funny stuff. Wakko, Yakko, and Dot are Warner Bros. crazies in the best tradition of Warner's golden age of the 30's and 40's. This 45 minute or so tape features 6 holiday shorts featuring the Animaniacs, Wacky Squirrel and Pinky and the Brain.

Thier take on an upbeat and swinging "Little Drummer Boy" is a joy. The Great Wakkorotti (read Pavarotti) Belches "jingle Bells" and ... Read More:

VHS : Zoboomafoo - Sense-Sational Animal Friends
Zoboomafoo is entertaining, funny, and packed with information about animals. The Kratt brothers combine just the right amount of silly antics with real educational material and close-up encounters with all kinds of animals. See also my review of Zoboomafoo - Look Who's Home. This is quality educational programming that won't drive Mom or Dad crazy -- highly recommended.

VHS : Merry Christmas Teletubbies
This video is cute. It is filled with the typical Teletubbie antics- dancing, tumbling, repitition etc. Two video tapes to sit through is a little bit too much Teletubbies for me. However, there are some natural stopping points built in, similar to other Teletubbie videos. You can easily let your child watch a 20 minute segment and turn it off and you are not turning it off in the middle of something.

Although my three year old has turned onto other things like Sesame Street, Dragon Tales and others, ... Read More:

VHS : Real Monsters: Meet the Monsters
MEET THE MONSTERS is a collection of one of the greatest animated TV shows of all time, but the quality is so bad, it looks like someone taped it off the TV. Though the TV show is great, these aren't the very best Real Monsters cartoons, there are ones that are a lot better. The cartoons include:

COLD HARD TOENAILS
Ickis gets rich (human toenails are monster money) and he refuses to go to school. If you used to watch it on TV, you'll realize they showed this episode ALL THE TIME!!

ATTACK ... Read More:

VHS : Little Rascals
New interpretations of some classic Our Gang bits, a few cameos and decent production value. Its a fun little movie and the kids are fun to watch. They're poor actors, just like the originals, although the Spanky and Alfalfa that people remember from the late 30s were probably more polished than any of these kids.

My only complaint is the DVD edition seems to be the same edited version as the old VHS. There are a few gags that are either incomplete, or missing altogether, but you can kind of tell where they ... Read More:

VHS : Out on a Limb Miniseries
Shirley Maclaine's willingness to risk ridicule with her candor is to be commended. She powerfully states what many people fear to speak of. This book inspired me and in fact, if the title had not been taken, may very well have been the title for "Blessings In The Mire." Because she is such a celebrity figure, Maclaine risked more than an average joe. By expressing her beliefs, she opened herself up to the skeptics, the critics, the hecklers. If for nothing else, Ms. Maclaine should be commended for her candor and bavery, but with ... Read More:
