VHS : Sesame Street - Christmas Eve on Sesame Street
It has been a tradition in my family to watch Sesame Street Christmas since it first aired over 25 years ago. You can't beat Big Bird's determination to meet "Mr. Claus," Bert & Ernie playing out a modern Gift of the Magi, and Cookie Monster's lack of willpower. I am very much looking forward to popping in this DVD instead of the warped (but much loved) video tape!

I ordered this dvd from another seller listed with Amazon. I ordered this dvd on Oct. 19th. To date i still have not received it. I have sent several emails to the seller and to Amazon and have had no contact from the seller yet. I will never order from a seller listed with Amazon again. If i can't get it directly from Amazon, then i guess i just don't need it.

VHS : My Name Is Bill W.
Although not for everybody, this film gives us insight into the struggles of Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob the founders of AA. I think the acting was excellent. The characters were portrayed wonderfully by James Woods and James Garner. I learned a lot from this film and would recommend it to anybody who is involved in a 12 step program or works with recovery.

Sarah Wheaton (Glenn Close) is a mail-order bride in 1910 who answers an ad for a "wife" to "make a difference" in a families life. She moves from Maine to Kansas (a long train ride). The man she answers to is Jacob Witting (Christopher Walken). He and his 2 kids (Anna and Caleb) are still mourning the death of his wife, Katherine, after 6 years. She writes to them many times before deciding to do a 30 day trial in which she lives with the family to see how things work out. They go through many hardships before everything ... Read More:

GREAT entertainment if you love the old Motown, Soul, and Volt-Stax Mussel Shoals studios music sound. Also good if just interested in some of the early roots and groups of this phenomonon. It gives a look at a number of the Motown artists we all know about as real people with the same joys and struggles that we all share.

I saw part of this movie\mini series on cable one night and as soon as it went off got on Amazon to see if it was available. I think just about any music lover will enjoy this.

VHS : Holocaust (The Mini-Series)
I saw the miniseries HOLOCAUST as a child. I couldn't believe that people could be so cruel. I never forgot it.
I also remember the heroism. You know, it really is an uplifting film.
I lent the tape to a teacher friend of mine, and her students got it. They asked questions. They wanted to learn more about this period in history. They wanted to know more about man's inhumanity to man.
I'm going to keep lending that tape. I want people to learn.

VHS : Full Body Massage
This movie is essentially "My Dinner With Andre" -- but with Andre as a woman and she's mostly nude. Granted Mimi Rogers is a lot more fun to look at than Mr. Gregory (I can't picture her as Wallace Shawn...), but the long wordy conversation which runs throughout this film is just as shallow and pointless as Malle's original. They talk about art, about shamanistic healing, about relationships and "the differences between men and women" -- but nothing is ever settled. Both characters state their opinions and keep talking. The gimmick of ... Read More:

My 14 month old daughter LOVES this section of the tape and this has been her favorite thing to watch since she started watching videos. All she has to do is hear "funny lady's" voice and she stops what she is doing to watch. The rest of the video is entertaining as well (although I find the segment on finding rabbits boring).

The best and enduring part of this movie is seeing Herbie himself after so many years - and - Dean Jones returning as Jim Douglas. It seems weird to say there is chemistry between a man and a car but Herbie and Jim have it!!! Thanks Disney, for the memories.
