Welles, Goddard, Hitchcock. These names are thought of when one discusses the topic of great film directors. To me, the unnamed person behind the lens of Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen - Our First Video deserves to be added to the list.
Here, in their first video, we see the origin of MK and Ashley. It's incredibly interesting, knowing them as we now do, going back and seeing how they were in the beginning. The singing, the dancing and the merrymaking all add up to an incredibly rewarding watch. ... Read More:

An old movie but a great movie. Many appearances are not what they seem. I searched for this movie for years & am happy to finally have it in my library. If you like old movies & these actors then you must see this movie.

I've been re-watching my own wobbly videotape of this two-parter for years. It occured to me to check Amazon...and here it is! Oddly though, I find the names of the three female stars listed to promote the movie but no mention of Daniel Craig. Would-be buyers might be interested in seeing 007 before his was a big name on the marquee.

Do not buy from Amazon marketplace vendor MOVIESONSALE1. They advertised Bronx Tale as wide screen but sent the movie in full screen version with misleading packaging. Now I know why their rating is only 89% satisfaction. They collect money and deposit it and accrue interest and wait for the buyer to complain. I waited over a month to watch this movie and I went ballistic. After contacting the seller they claim they will send me a prepaid envelope and a full refund.

My younger sister was obsessed with this movie when we were growing up, so I've probably seen it at least fifty times. Now, as an adult, it's great to watch it again because I realize how many huge stars were in it playing bit parts. Really fun movie...I wish they would re-release it to DVD!

16.Executive Action starring: Burt Lancaster, Robert Ryan, Will Geer, Gilbert Green, John Anderson

VHS : Executive Action
I saw 'Executive Action' when it first came out in 1973, and it has stuck with me all these years. It was gone from the theaters pretty fast, and I thought maybe it was "pulled" because of the truth it revealed. So when I stumbled upon it at Amazon, I almost jumped out of my chair.
The part that really stayed with me is at the end when words scroll up listing the odds put out by Lloyd's of London. It's like a trillion to one that all the real people involved in the murder of JFK would meet untimely deaths. ... Read More:

VHS : Rasputin (1996)
This is a beautifully depicted film. Yes, it is based on fact, but I am sure than no movie can really accurately described what really went on in the lives of the Romanovs. However, as a movie, its really brilliant. Its utterly mesmerizing, and it really is all thanks to Alan Rickman. He is utter perfection in this. His portrayal of the infamous Rasputin is genius and almost creepy. The likeness is undeniable. This is a dramatic film and I really wish a proper dvd would finally come out.

18.Doctor Zhivago: 30th Anniversary Edition starring: Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, Geraldine Chaplin, Rod Steiger, Alec Guinness

VHS : Doctor Zhivago: 30th Anniversary Edition
I like the movie, and the dvd set is fine, but I prefer to watch movies with the words and the mouth movements in sync. Amazon has sent me two of the two-disc special edition, and they're both out of sync.

VHS : Blue Dahlia
The Blue Dahlia is a quintessential film noir, one of the great films that defined the genre. Army men return from World War II to find their wives drunk and cheating with scumbag jazz club owners. Whether this film has not been released on DVD in the U.S. is quite curious, considering almost every film noir has been burned onto DVD in various collections of the genre. My guess is that Turner owns the film, and hopes to air it only on TCM, or the potentially racist comment in the film has people worried. There were racists in the 1940s, ... Read More:
