| I first saw this film back in the 70's on the big scrren...and never forgot it. It's one of the most wonderful Christmas movies. This film captures the spirit of the original Dickens story, adding the zest of beautiful, gritty London sets, delightful music (why oh why has a CD never been released?) and wonderful performances from the actors. | Nutcracker on Ice by Oksana and Baiul Is very nice excect that it was spoiled by the Sugar Plum Fairy all through the program!! It should have been kept in its own segment as in the origional delightful story. |

| Your level of enjoyment will probably depend on how much you appreciate Zappa and his particular brand of [...]. As a movie musical, it seems at times to be a parody of the genre while simultaneously stretching the form well beyond its normal parameters. | I had never even heard of this movie until I saw it on TCM about a year ago. It is a cute story about a young salesgirl Polly (Debbie Reynolds) who ends up getting fired from her job. On the way back to her house she sees a young baby on the orphanage steps and saves it from a terrible fall. When she takes the baby into the orphanage they think it is her baby that she is giving them. | I was hesitant to go for the two disk set, but it's really worth it if you love musicals, and love MGM movies. The second disk is a great addition, packed with loads of info about Arthur Freed, with commentary by Debbie Reynolds, and it even includes the original film clips of the songs in the movie. This is a great choice for a fan. |

| The Harry Connick Jr. Christmas Special was first broadcast on Christmas Eve 1993, on CBS. The picture quality and sound is superb. The most wonderful thing about this VHS tape is that it includes musical numbers not included in the original television broadcast. Harry Connick Jr. captures the spirit of Christmas unlike any other contemporary performer. This is truly a "must-have" for anyone who loves good ole-fashion Christmas entertainment. |

| Domingo sings beautifully, Stratas less so but looks and acts the part. The biggest problem is there are so many cuts and shortened arias that you could almost call this "extended highlights". And Zeferelli over-produces, particularly with camera work. If you want a movie version get Anna Moffo's of over 30 years ago. Now there was a Violetta! |
