VHS : Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker (American Ballet Theatre)
I am a dancer and ballet is my favorite type of dance. I have seen dozens of different Nutcrackers over the years, from the traditional to the avand garde. Nothing can compare with this version. Baryshnikov shines. And Kirkland is a most sensuous Clara/Marie. Their duet at the end replaced the traditional "sugarplum fairy" dance. But, what a duet! I never get tired of watching it. A true Christmas treasure.

VHS : The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus
I see alot of ppl reviewing like this is the 1985 special with just a new case. It's not I've seen this remake on television. It's been aired on Disney Channel I believe. They took the original book and the concept from Rankin-Bass' puppet adaption and just used tradition animation to remake the exact same film. I don't like how they remade alot of the characters and the original will always by far be the best because Rankin/Bass were and are cutting edge in my mind.

VHS : George Balanchine's The Nutcracker
The Balanchine's Nutcracker is one of the most beloved Nutcracker Ballets
in The United States. Many ballet companies have different versions of the holiday story, but this ballet is a warm exciting evening for all, even those who are not big dance enthusiast. You may not be able to go to the State Theatre in New York City to see a performance, but even better if you have small children, what a way to spend an evening at home with them. The narration on this DVD,by Kevin Klein also makes this an enjoyable ... Read More:

VHS : Scrooge (1970)
I first saw this film back in the 70's on the big scrren...and never forgot it. It's one of the most wonderful Christmas movies. This film captures the spirit of the original Dickens story, adding the zest of beautiful, gritty London sets, delightful music (why oh why has a CD never been released?) and wonderful performances from the actors. I looked in vain for it to play on television and was thrilled when it came out on DVD. Now it's part of my annual holiday watching and I share it with more people each year. I suggest ... This is a nice family movie that is worthwhile watching more than once not only by its great music but by Clifton Webb's acting. I hope to be able sometime within the near future to obtain a copy in DVD format.

This was my intro to the band as a young teen in the 80's. It's a wonderful film and documentary, that really gives a full story of the band from beginning to end. Really get a glimpse into the personalities and the music's creative process. Good clips of interviews, and music performances/videos. Great choice of songs throughout, not just the hits (such as Tomorrow Never Knows, Why don't we do it in the road, Love you too, Day in the Life), even though they are usually shortened snippets. Small complaint, but I just wish it had some ... Read More:

There is probably problems with licensing parts of the Soundtrack... One Part in particular ~ The Dead Kennedy's song playing while they are all in the Kitchen... Holiday in Cambodia. There have been lawsuits over this song between band members and Jello Biafra when Levi's wanted to use it in a commercial. Royalty payment disputes and the like. It has probably killed any chance of getting this film released on DVD.

VHS : Sesame Street - The Best of Elmo
Kids just love Elmo, no matter how much adults may not feel the same way, though I do admit I am somewhat entertained by him. But my son (2-1`/2) absolutely loves him, so that is what really matters. I try to limit television/video time and a one or two 1/2 hour breaks during the day and this is a good DVD for those times - you usually cannot go wrong with CTW.
