VHS : Pimpernel Smith
Pimpernel Smith is one of Leslie Howards last films before his untimely death during WWII. Howard was reaching his prime as an actor, a director and a producer. This film, in which Howard is the star as well as director and producer, is a delight to watch, creating suspense and a slow build to excitement. It is not an "in your face" film, but rather a slower moving but cleverly written indictment against the Nazis who, by this time, had been bombing England for over a year.
Clever writing, ... Read More:

Caught this on VH1 Classics last year and I was just enthralled, it was as if I'd stumbled on a goldmine, which in some way I did. I'm obsessed, too bad the legal issues keep this from getting released on DVD. I just ordered the Alley Cats album, unfortunately it does not contain the song that is on this concert "Nothing Means Nothing Anymore". Guess I'll have to do with the rest. Hope this gets released one day, more people need to see this.

VHS : The Story of English, Programs 1-9
This is an informative and engaging series that was brilliantly done in 1986. It traces the evolution of the English language. I want to buy this and use it but I can't believe that it isn't on DVD. A series this good (though some parts of it are a little dated) is something everyone who speaks English should see. Five stars are not enough.

VHS : Christmas... A Time for Joy
The styles are varied in this wonderful show, but the quality always high, with renditions of familiar classics along with a few original songs, with some numbers that are truly thrilling, among them the opening song, a bluegrass flavored "It's a Time for Joy" with Karen Peck and New River, the Gaither Vocal Band with David Phelps doing an exquisite tenor solo on "The Christmas Song" (and Mark Lowry doing Johnny Mathis !), "Children Go Where I Send Thee" with The Bishops giving us harmonies from heaven, the country ... VHS : Pink Floyd - The Wall
Of all the efforts put in bt Pink Floyd, this is the one essential Roger Waters compilation. This product is a journey into madness. It's about the alienation he feels between the band and the fans.

I didn't realize as I watched the film the first time that it was inspired by actual lives -- Sainte-Colombe and Marin Marais are important figures in the history of music -- nor was it clear to me, until I did some research, how the film connected with important theological controversies of the 17th century. Hearing that Sainte-Colombe was "a reformer," I took that to mean that he was a Calvinist and thus was confused to see him, in a later scene, in what was clearly a Catholic church. (The film makes me want to know ... Read More:

I absolutely love this movie and I am so happy that I found it here on Amazon. My mother owns the copy I grew up watching as well as the sound track so now I have to buy my own. I grew up with this movie and have always loved it and the gorgeous music that adds to the already beautiful story. I recommend it to everyone and anyone who loves family movies and beautiful music!

VHS : A Christmas Carol
This version of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" might be a little shorter than the others,it is a little more lighthearted. As far as
characters go Scrooge,Bob Cratchit, and of course Tiny Tim, I prefer these actors out of any of the rest. This is by far the best of them all!

Knowing from the very first time I saw this Video, I would want to see it over and over again. I decided to make a mark on the video protective case in order to keep a record of how many times that I had viewed the tape. I now have 79 viewing marks recorded. I also have bought a second BACK-UP tape just in case something should happen to this tape. I sing along with my tape and pretty well know it by heart. I'll never get tired of this special tape !
