VHS : April Morning
This is a decent film that deserves to be re-issued on DVD. While not a big budget opus like infamous Mel Gibson's THE PATRIOT, this is a much higher quality film overall. While a bit slow in the beginning with family relationships in Lexington, the film picks up when the British at last appear on the screen! There is a nice shot of the British columm deploying impressively into line to face Captain Parker's company. The only problem here is that the British force at this point consisited of ... Nice reproduction. It was originally filmed in great quality. Not real sure if the Blue-ray version is that much better. I viewed it on a 720p 42" LCD. But the price made it worth it.

183.Bitter Tea of General Yen starring: Barbara Stanwyck, Nils Asther, Toshia Mori, Walter Connolly, Gavin Gordon

VHS : Bitter Tea of General Yen
says Jones (Walter Connolly) in the last scene of this movie. That about sums it up. Somewhat below average. Barbara Stanwyck wasn't below average. She never is. She is practicing acting as the beautiful, virginal, (if somwhat gullible) missionary Megan Davis. She's about to be married in China to another missionary. There is a riot & she is rescued or kidnaped depending on your point of view by General Yen. He is basically a ruthless criminal played by Nils Asher. Apparently there were no Asian actors in Hollywood ... Read More:

I'm a huge Bette Davis fan but definately not blind to her bad movies.
I think she's horrible in The Star, pointless in Mr. Skeffington and wasted in June Bride and boring in A Stolen Life. Having said that she's quite good in this film and not too mannered. Nice to have religion thrown in the mix and forgiveness. I didn't like this movie when I was younger because it is so talky but as an older adult I can now appreciate the themes. And fashion being my primary love...well, the clothes are quite nice and I don't think the movie said ... Read More:

VHS : The Story of Dr. Wassell / Movie
This movie I consider among my favorites. It is a true story of a doctor
who ended up on Java and saved many wounded men who were rejected entrance
into a ship leaving for safety because they could not get up and walk. It is
an amazing story and I am hoping someone will get it transfered to DVD before
it is beyond saving!

VHS : Nun's Story (1959)
This was one of Audrey's finest performance. She was moving, believable and heart touching. She is the finest actress to ever hit the big screen.

A classically funny movie. Jim Hutton and Paula Prentiss are great.

VHS : Enemy Below
A lot of World War II movies show how it was for U.S. Subs during that War. The Enemy Below reverses the normal and gives a look at the enemy in a sub being chased by an American Ship. It isn't the expected outcome but the action is good and the acting superb! It's a great movie.

The DVD movie that I bought from Amazon had many parts missing. Some important scenes and dialogues in the original version are not present in the version you sell. I'm really disappointed, and I will not buy anything from Amazon anymore.

VHS : Five Graves to Cairo (1943)
This WWII movie is an unexpected delight, although coming from Billy Wilder the unexpected should be expected. The action in Five Graves to Cairo takes place in a flea-bitten, mud-brick hotel on the edge of the North African desert. It's 1942 and Tobruk has fallen. Rommel and the Afrika Corps are driving toward Cairo and the only thing that can stop them is a lack of supplies. The English are worried. The Egyptians are testing the wind. And Rommel seems to be supremely confident. "We shall take that big cigar from Churchill's mouth and make him say 'Heil'!" he says with ... Read More:
