| Can it be that the only DVD edition of this is for non-US countries? I think this film is brilliant. From start to finish, it showed the impact that one person can have with determination. It is a film in my library I watch at least once a year. What a crime to not have a DVD edition! |

| This movie is exquisite; Catherine Deneuve is so beautiful, her wardrobe so perfect, that it is hard to concentrate at times. When you see her whipping one of her slaves, you cannot fathom such cruelty and beauty together - but that is the cost exacted by colonialism.

| Although the 1935 version of THE DARK ANGEL was a remake of an earlier silent film, it too seems to have disappeared into obscurity--and what a shame! This movie will not appeal to fans of the current brand of Hollywood "love stories", where the hero and heroine (or same sex couples in some cases) slip easily into bed together after only just meeting, several car chases and shoot-outs ensue, and the plots remind you of the last Meg Ryan film you saw because they are all the same--and they are filmed in color. | An interesting DVD. The movie was good but the extras were even better. The interview with Vonnegut and Nolte was quite interesting, as was an idea for trailer that was eventually modified before being used. It occurred to me that the original trailer (still admired by the producers) violated the warning of the movie by being something that should not even be pretended at. |
