| i love john jakes kent family novels but i have to say the rebels was the least of the books.very little war happens in it and the two main people the novel follows never meet.
well the mini-series takes care of all of that and is a very good rousing adventure story with a great cast and the best sound track of any of the jakes mini-series. andrew stevens once again plays philip kent and is joined by a young don johnson as judson flecher. the action flows nicely in this one and the cast is great. do yourself ... | The movie is extraordinary. I hate the Blue-ray version of the movie! Save your money... vhs or dvd better represent the original. The Blue-ray version has been butchered! Black and white movies colorized is off my list also... And would someone please tell me how to start the movie without the previews and introductions? I have no interest in the opinions of others about the movie prior to watching the movie. | I admit that I am a baseball junkie and did not know as much about this part of the great american pastime as I should have and before I saw the movie I did not know the historical perspective of the subject matter. But that changed.
This is just an out and out great movie with a wonderful cast, Tom Hanks and Geena Davis turn in wonderful performances. I am not a big fan of either Madonna or Rosie O'Donnell, but because of their efforts in this movie I do take a double look whenever I ssee their names because they were brilliant here. | As I am currently changing all my VHS tapes over to DVD's I am struggling with some really good "old" mostly historical tapes that I don't think will ever be transferred over to DVD, and this is one of them.....the only copy I had, prior to acquiring this one is an old tape from the actual TV drama itself which has been played so often that it is skipping and missing words. I believe that some individual was selling a DVD that they had made but the review was that the picture quality was lousy, so I won't go there.
