VHS : Battlefield Collector Set (4pc)
In a time in which many documentaries are short on details and long on broad strokes and generalizations, I cannot overstate the quality of this video and the entire series. The detail and research which went into these documentaries is outstanding. As the other reviewers have noted, the series focuses on the battle from a number of different angles and tie the strategic planning, tactics, and results to the broader context of the Second World War.

Although each of the videos stands ... Read More:

The TV picture was awesome. Lots of action with great action. What also really impressed me was the sound, If you are a World War II movie fan, then this is a must addition to your library.
I purchased this picture as a gift for my son who lives and works in Thailand. I was concerned that it wouldn't play on his Play Station 3 Japanese unit. FYI it worked just fine.

This is an excellent series, done in a similar style to the WWII documentary "World at War" (both were produced by Jeremy Isaacs--Ted Turner had seen that earlier program and asked Isaacs to produce a cold war documentary). Unfortunately it's never been put on DVD, and the VHS version has long been out of print, with used copies typically fetching over a hundred dollars. So if you want to see it and don't care too much about video quality, I recommend going to video dot google dot com and doing a search for something like "cnn ... Read More:

I caught this film many years ago on cable. I could've been around ten the first time that'd seen it or around that age. The begining of the film was really disturbing to me, but that really didn't stop in one place it kept happening throughout the film. It builds so well. The performances, to me are flawless, especially from the two leads, Wings Hauser and R. Lee Ermey. I caught this movie on an encore channel that was called 'True', for true drama and i don't think it's around anymore. This film is amazing and it's an incredible shame that ... Read More:

Very few movies are truly works of art. This is one of them. There are no explosions that throw bodies through the air, no sensational car crashes, no severed human limbs. Rather there is a plot that unfolds on its own good time, well drawn characters, excellently written dialogue, perfect atmosphere, and gorgeous photography.

Still, I understand why some might find the film objectionable. There is nudity, even nudity of a pubescent girl. There is open talk of sex. And some quasi moralists are more offended by that than by ... Read More:

No wonder i was amazed as a kid sitting on my mom's lap watching these movies. I knew there was magic in them...but what was that magic.
That Magic my friends is the signing talent from many of our great actors/
actreses from our past. I dont know them all by name but when i hear
Mario Lanza or Nelson Eddy or Jeanette Macdonald i kinda melt away.
I saw this movie multiple times during the last 40 years and for a movie
that Mario did not want to make...it turned out quite alright and fun
enought to want to see ... Read More:

VHS : From Here to Eternity
From Here to Eternity is more than the classic scene of Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster rolling around on a beach, covered in ocean waves. It's a story about America during World War II. It's about human beings trying to live normal lives during an abnormal time. Taking place just before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, this is more than a war movie. It's a human story of love, honor, humor, and hope. Anyone who enjoys real-life drama will appreciate this well-written and well-acted story. From Here to Eternity (Superbit Collection)
