VHS : Flash Gordon
Maybe I could have understood the movie better if I wasn't having so much fun watching it! Why are Sam and Dale stuck out in the universe instead of going back to earth? Well, I'd stay out in space if the alternative was the dreary, dust-ridden planet we get a glimpse of at the beginning of the film. The movie picks up steam and color as soon as Dr. Zharkov kidnaps our hero and heroine and whisks them off to save the planet, and especially when they reach the court of the fabulous Ming the Merciless. ... VHS : Close Encounters of the Third Kind (The Collector's Edition)
One thing it might mean is that this is one of the most unique science fiction films ever made. I recently watched it with my wife (who very rarely enjoys any kind of sci-fi), a friend, and that friend's wife (who simply detests all sci-fi). Yet everyone enjoyed it. (My friend and I had already seen it.)

"This means something," is a recurring line throughout CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, similar to "I've got a bad feeling about this," in the STAR WARS films. So, the dialogue is not the ... Read More:

VHS : Dark Shadows Vol 1: Resurrection of Barnabas
Having only seen the first two VHS tapes in this series, I am astounded by its pure awesomeness! Dark Shadows plays on some of the most eerie campy camera techniques available at the time, and it seems that every scene ends in some sort of closeup/implication of double meaning. It'd be like, "So, are you staying a while, Barnabas?" And then there'd be an extreme closeup and he'd say, "Perhaps for quite a while," in the most eerie voice he can manage. It's creepy in that hilarious campy way that everybody loves. ... Read More:

VHS : Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Red Zone Cuba
After all these years, it's now apparent why the Bay of Pigs operation failed. It was attempted with a force of seven...And after watching this, it's no wonder. The only act of violence they were capable of was running over Cherokee Jack's dog....and butchering the concept of acting and film continuity. A perfect candidate for MST3 treatment...

VHS : Return to Salem's Lot
If your a fan of 80's B-Movies like myself, this one is a must-have in your collection. While this doesn't compare to the original Salem's Lot, there is still entertaining humor to be had in this one. Most will rate this film terrible, but as the title of my review goes, it's only for the campy B-Movie collector only. too bad it's not officially on DVD....

VHS : Metropolis (Restored Authorized Edition)
Who would have guessed that a silent film from nearly a hundred years ago would still be one of the most poignant science fiction films ever created? Proving that story is more important than CGI, Metropolis delivers a stirring film that explores what it means to be human, and sets the stage for every robot/android/clone movie to follow (which happens to be all of them, this movie is so old!).

Newer films hopped up on CGI explosions, gross out violence (I'm talking about you, Starship Troopers) but suffering inane writing ... Read More:

VHS : Star Wars - Episode IV, A New Hope (Special Edition)
Star Wars 4 Limited Edition includes the original theatrical release and the 2004 tweaked version. There are some fans who refuse to watch the 2004 edition. They prefer the original version where Han shoots first. Then there are people who prefer the 2004 release because it looks more realistic and updated. This DVD will please both fans.
The only reason this DVD does not get five stars is the lack of special features. There are no deleted scenes or inside looks. It just includes commentary.
If you already own the 2004 ... Read More:
