| This is a really great comedy that many will identify with. Actually there was another version of this on Showtime back in 1980 or 1981 staring scott baio and Danny Aiello which was far superior, but it is not available anywhere that I can find. If anyone has it let me know... |

| I'm a major River Phoenix fan. He was the finest actor of my generation - simple as that. He had that rare ability to make you feel...in every film he did. IMO, this is some of his greatest work. You can almost touch his vunerability - that's how powerful it is. You forget your watching River...he totally becomes his character Mike. | You get to see a butch run around in a bra the whole time. When you're in college and you get a coed to go down on you, you do get desensitized. As a horror film it fails, as an exercise in high camp it's not campy is it goes along, as a porn it works but as a musical it's a masterpiece. This blows away Cats, Wizard of Oz, Singing in the Rain, you name it. The best musical ever made, hands down no insurance needed. | I saw the movie when it came out in the mid 90's and after visiting Savannah this past summer & touring the Mercer house and then reading the book for the fist time, I just had to see it again. I remembered it as being better than I now rate it, but I also read the book before seeing it the second time & I found several things lacking or rushed when comparing it to the book. | I first saw this on VHS many years ago and was ready to see it again right away because I thought I'd missed the point. I've seen it many time since. It is dark and yet funny since almost everyone in it has some bizarre behavior at some point. The acting is top notch, though I wasn't crazy about the ending. I would at least see it once if you haven't already.
