| I have agree with a previous reviewer---in a lefted-handed way. If you are an evangelical christian who rejects the very foundation of modern biology--the fact of evolution (some people misunderstand the meaning of "theory" as "idea" or "opinion")--then this video (and series) is not for you. Created by the BBC as a general introduction to scientific concepts, this series uses established scientific facts to teach children (and, occasionally, adults) about the world in which we live.

| Accurate, shmaccurate. I have wonderful memories of catching this episode of nova on television with my family, and went looking for it on Amazon on a whim. I ordered it and watched it again, and if anything it has gotten better. I guess I don't really care if Nova lied about their methods, or if they inaccurately claim their data supports that of "Egyptology" - (what, the entire field of Egyptology?) - I do however value the oafish and volatile humor of the Massachusetts stonemason, boarishly out of place ... | I homeschool my 10 yr old, 8 yr old, 6 yr old, 5 yr old, and 4 yr old; all sit attentively and soak up the Bill Nye the Science Guy shows. I highly recommend all Bill Nye shows to supplement teaching science. My only disappointment with the series is that it isn't on DVD! not even on Blockbuster or Netflix.
Other than that, if you can get your hands on a VHS, or PBS Educational programming run of it (PBS is showing it now actually in the mornings) do sit with your children and watch it, I can't not ... Read More: |

| The title "Rock" 'N Learn is a bit of a stretch even for little children. I found the video fast-paced but not catchy. They sing the alphabet evenly spaced, which is an odd variation from the ABC song. The words for each letter are presented quickly and the corresponding images are fairly small. It does, however, address "funny letters" such as "a" and "q" that look different in some fonts, and it quickly demonstrates how to write each letter. | I have seen the video quite a few times now to review what I have learned. Renee is very pleasant and fun to watch. She teaches the basic signs and the fingerspell alphabet with clarity. I would highly recommend this video! |

| If you are familiar with the There Goes A .... video series, you'll know what to expect here. Dave and Becky visit racetracks, talk to drivers, and drive a few cars as they learn about the world of racecars. Not the best of their many adventures (There Goes a Firetruck is the best of the bunch), but of interest to fans of the series or kids who want to know a bit about these fast cars.

| Oh how can anyone not like Dave and Becky? Yes, it is cheese-whiz to an aged Camembert, but what kid likes $100 a pound cheese, anyway? The fact we bought it at NASA helped, too. Dave and Becky rock ANY planet, even if their production budget didn't include authentic stranded on the moon footage. ;)

| We have the first three tapes in this series, and I play them interchangeably for our son, who is just over a year old. I found it frustrating that a complex term like "bulldozer" is included, while the baby is still working on learning the much simpler "truck." I mean, why are we getting into such complex distinctions of types of vehicles? I'd have preferred that the vocabulary list stick to words most likely to be needed -- and reinforced -- by everyday living.
