VHS : Long Way Home
Much has been said of the Holocaust, but these stories usually end with the liberation of the Jews from the concentration camps. This remarkable documentary fills in the missing piece between this period and the creation of the state of Israel. It was an excruciatingly difficult transition. From the concentration camps, the Jews went to displaced persons camp because they could not return to their old ways of life. These camps were scarcely an improvement. As one survivor states, "The Nazis ... Read More:

VHS : Underground Railroad (History Channel)
One of the most general perceptions that I received from my high school history days in the 1960's concerning the fate of black slaves in America was that they essentially passively waited for the Union armies to free them during the process of the Civil War in the 1860's. In short, blacks had no pre-history as a people who struggled for freedom in their own right but were merely the victims of history. Of course, since those days I have made it my business to find out the real story of slave resistance ... Read More:

This movie was great. No complaints. It never gets old and even after all these years your kids can still learn from it.

who are these people that write reviews. I am only thirteen and i can at least spell my words right. Another thing is that i wonder if any of these people actually play pool. If you look at their other reviews they seem to all be on political books or things that have nothing to do with pool. It is senseless to even write them then. They could be leading people toward something educational or something not educational. Then their comments, some people need to do their homework before they write all these dumb things. ... VHS : Eyewitness - Planets
This movie was a great way to add more information to a lesson on the planets given to third graders. It had enough pictures and interesting facts to hold the attention of my class of 23 nine year olds. It is only about 30 minutes long, so the kids were able to keep their attention on the movie and write facts they learned in their science notebooks. This movie is probably a bit much for very young children, but interesting for older children and adults.

126.Star Trek: Memories starring: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Marj Dusay

VHS : Star Trek: Memories
Worth every penny - Chock full of fascinating details about all the backstage and front office folks, and some about the cast. Doesn't go into individual episodes much, and we actually don't hear all that much about Bill Shatner's Star Trek experience: it's more like Bill is the narrator for EVERYONE ELSE'S Star Trek memories. As a die-hard Shatner worshipper I was bummed about that; still, the book has enough juicy backstage scoop to be a really fun read.

I wish I could give this 4 stars out of frustration because in 2004 it is not on dvd, but I just can't cause it is the best biography I have ever seen.

VHS : Williamsburg:Story of a Patriot
In a few short minutes, this film captures the dilemma of ordinary citizens suddenly forced to make a decision that would change the course of history forever. This film offers far greater historical accuracy than the PATRIOT starring Mel Gibson. If you've never visited Colonial Williamsburg, it will make you want to see it. If you've already been there, this is the perfect item to bring back wonderful memories.

I bought this video for my two-year-old, who loves elephants. And he does love this video, but doesn't like to watch it alone. First, there are a couple of graphic shots of dead elephants. Then, there are some dramatic sound effects and intimidating angles of elephants' feet coming down. Also, one shot shows a man (in a studio), aiming a rifle at an elephant, and shooting. The elephant disappears, so we don't see the animal dying. Still, our son has focussed on that, talking about people shooting elephants. The bottom line is, it's an excellent ... Read More:

VHS : Liberty - The American Revolution
Liberty: The American Revolution has great depth of information, but it's a little too much for junior high age students. Unfortunately we bought the DVD from Fot Records who will not allow returns if the package has been opened without penalizing the buyer a hefty 80%!

We are a school library, and we must preview every DVD we buy before we show it to our students. When we realized the DVD was inappropriate for our age group, we returned it to Fot Records only to find out that we were receiving only $8.99 of our original $44.98 because ... Read More:
