This is Clint Eastwood at his imcomparable best. To me, it even outranks "Unforgiven."

63.A Fistful of Dollars starring: Clint Eastwood, Gian Maria Volontè, Marianne Koch, Wolfgang Lukschy, Sieghardt Rupp
directed by: Monte Hellman, Sergio Leone

VHS : A Fistful of Dollars
If you have already watched Sergio Leone's other western movies like 'For a Few Dollars More' or 'Once Upon A Time In The West', you better avoid this one. Sheer repeat. Only unique feature is Ennio Morricone's music. Rest, just another western movie based on a small town of a single road. Setting is not that ambitious in this one.
Eastwood is also all the same - not able to escape the sheer monotonous look of the other western movies of Leone. He does not look to have even a clear agenda in this edition! ... Read More:

VHS : The Night Porter
When I first saw this film years ago, it seemed to me to have a cheap and easy ending, and I thought the whole thing was designed more to titillate than aim for something deeper. Now I've watched it a few times over, and I think it is trying for something. Love elevates the animal into humanity. An old story, but it is hard to argue with this version. Love elevates us; it takes us out of the basest forms of existence. Evil in turn needs to annihilate. The section of the movie where the protagonists reenact the ... Read More:

VHS : The Hunger
THE HUNGER is one of the best vampire movies around. The mysterious, bloodsucking Blaylocks (Catherine Deneuve as Miriam and David Bowie as John) live a non-life of luxury and debauched serial-murder / feeding. Doctor Sarah Roberts (Susan Sarandon) gets mixed up w/ the deadly duo when John begins aging at an incredibly accelerated rate. Dr. Roberts might be able to help him since she happens to be doing research into slowing the aging process. Miriam falls for Sarah and makes plans to replace the now-decrepit John. The seduction ... VHS : Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre tripped me out when I first rented it on VHS a few years ago. It was around 2001 and I rented it because I was like 13 and Bored! So me and friends watched it late at night, and everyone disliked it, cause they were idiots. I loved it! The film is so bizzare. Its just this old movie with a group of friends discovering an obandoned farmhouse near one of the girl's grandparents' old house. In the farmhouse lives a strange, sadistic murderer and his entire family! It's so creepy and trippy cause you don't see ... Read More:

VHS : Quick & The Dead
Action movies are only as good as their villains. Heroics require really nasty bad guys.

Gene Hackman skillfully portrays an antagonist so mean you know he'd kill his own son. Sharon Stone, for the most part, credibly plays the protagonist, but her motivation for revenge seems filched from Harmonica in Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West.

The remaining cast of bad guys are cartoonish and the plot stretches credulity beyond the limits, but fine acting and a unique premise work to make this an engaging film. ... Read More:

VHS : Cotton Comes to Harlem
'Am I Black enough for you?' That was the question the Right, Righteous, Reverend, Deke O'Malley asked of the people. I saw this when I was 14, in 1971 and have never forgotten it. Calvin Lockhart, Raymond St. Jacques, Godfrey Cambridge and the Drop-Dead Gorgeous...Judy Pace, made me sit in the State Theater and watch this at least 4 times running...right on my brother...Right On!!!

The cameo by Redd Foxx gave it a sense of legitimacy too, because as cool as he was, he was comfortable playing a junk man...didn't forget where he came ... Read More:

This has got to be one of the dumbest, most deliriously boring flicks ever made. Heck, watching it gave me a massive headache. I'm known for liking really cheesy movies, but this one is just plain stinky.

This movie was as funny today as 30 years ago. Pete and Dud's comedy is brilliant and stands the test of time.
