The first downfall is no subtitles or closed captioning. But if you are a fan of low budget campy quirky fun, then backlash is for you. Seeing Julie Newmar and Meg Foster alone is worth the price of the movie.

VHS : Black Heat
Here's a slice of '70s Blaxpoitation cheese that manages to pack a sizeable wallop for its miniscule budget. Tough African-American detective Kicks Carter (Timothy Brown) is out to break up a pair of bottom-feeder crooks and stop a guns-for-drugs trade organized by a black mobster improbably named Guido. Along the way there's plenty of clumsily choreographed (and often poorly-lit) fight scenes and shoot-outs, a smattering of sex and nudity (like when Kicks makes sweet love to his TV reporter girlfriend ... I picked this up because I've always admired Pam Grier. For many years, even now one of the sexiest, most stunning women in films. This has always been my fav of her early films. Now that I own it I like it even better. The image and sound quality of the DVD are top-notch. Not blurred and scratchy like many films from the old American International library. The twenty five year old Pam takes your breath away in every scene. A big surprise for me was the commentary from director Jack Hill who like ... Read More:

VHS : Black Caesar
This was a truly excellent movie, a gangster flick drawing heavily from the blaxploitation genre. Fred Williamson plays Tommy Gibbs, a young tough who works his way from shoeshine/mob messenger boy to crime boss. He uses the Italian mob and the corrupt cop who beat him severely as a teenager to gain a foothold and then turns the tables on all of them. None of it seems to matter, though, as he still can't satisfy the women in his life, no matter what he can give them. As his world begins to crumble around ... Read More:

It's worth watching once to satisfy your curiosity. That's it.

There's no suspense, nothing new, nothing interesting in this movie. Samuel Jackson could not save it.

157.Dark Shadows Bloopers starring: Joan Bennett, Jonathan Frid, Grayson Hall, Nancy Barrett, David Henesy
August 31, 1994

VHS : Dark Shadows Bloopers
Very disappointing...would of been better if maybe Jonathan Frid or another cast member had narratored the mishaps for us. Some of the bloopers are not apparent and have to be pointed out with a little white arrow (boring) and we are just subjected to one scene after another. The outtakes are also disappointing - most of them are of the actors or a stage hand holding the number slate.

158.Humanoids From Deep starring: Doug McClure, Ann Turkel, Vic Morrow, Cindy Weintraub, Anthony Pena

VHS : Humanoids From Deep
Noticeably taking several cues from big budget horror films, Humanoids from the Deep still manages to create an enjoyable atmosphere and a few unique thrills to retain an air of originality. Combining an infinitely absurd plot with serious actors, decent gore effects, gratuitous nudity, and a pervasive foreboding score from James Horner culminates in a low budget horror flick that nearly breaks free of such impediments to offer plenty of scares and laughs, mostly in that order.

In this Roger Corman produced monster ... Read More:

VHS : Return of Superfly
I miss Ron O'Neil. He was Superfly. In this one we get Nathan Purdee who does extremely well with what he's given but it's just not the same as having Ron in the role. But Purdee is cool and does his best to make this a decent flick and I appreciate that.
The reviewer who said that in this one Priest "works with the cops" is incorrect. The cops try to force him to work for them and Priest REFUSES. He handles things HIS WAY. That's exactly how it should be.
The original Superfly was about a clever man who wanted out of "the life" and ... Read More:
