Can it be that the only DVD edition of this is for non-US countries? I think this film is brilliant. From start to finish, it showed the impact that one person can have with determination. It is a film in my library I watch at least once a year. What a crime to not have a DVD edition!

VHS : Story of Esther Costello
"The Story of Esther Costello" has to be one of my very favorite movies with Joan. I know I say that all the time but this time I really mean it. At the very least, it has to be one of Joan's very best movies from the fifties. My three favorite movies from this era, of Joan's six-decade career include: Harriet Craig, Johnny Guitar and this. And they are all so different! If you've seen them all you will know what I mean and you'll know why Joan was such a diverse and talented actress who never delivered ... Read More:

VHS : Indochine
This movie is exquisite; Catherine Deneuve is so beautiful, her wardrobe so perfect, that it is hard to concentrate at times. When you see her whipping one of her slaves, you cannot fathom such cruelty and beauty together - but that is the cost exacted by colonialism.
When she chooses to use her influence to have Vincent Perez (Jean-Baptiste) sent away, I wanted to scream "no, no, don't do it, can't you see what will happen?" No man will choose a woman of a certain age, no matter how lovely and fascinating, ... Read More:

VHS : The Time Machine
This is one of the best movies ever made. This isn't just a classic, this movie is one of the movies that paved the way for other sci fi movies. This is as much of a classic as Wizard of Oz or Gone with the Wind and in my opinion this is better than both of those movies put together.

195.The Return of the Musketeers starring: Michael York, Oliver Reed, Frank Finlay, C. Thomas Howell, Kim Cattrall
directed by: Richard Lester

VHS : The Return of the Musketeers
It was good to see the 'boys' in action again. The 'twist' of Athos and Arimis not trusting d'Artagnan was good. Otherwise, most of it was boring. I loved the 3 and 4 Musketeers, the 3 being my favorite.

196.A Man and a Woman starring: Anouk Aimée, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Pierre Barouh, Valérie Lagrange, Antoine Sire

VHS : A Man and a Woman
I realized that there was a reason that I recalled "A Man and a Woman"; a film I'd never seen before. It's theme became somewhat of hit back in the late 1960's. I'm glad I finally watched the film because this is a very good movie. The reason I liked it was because of its' ability to tell a unique love story.

We meet a couple of individuals just as they are meeting each other. Their relationship emerges from each person's tragic previous relationship. We get this information in a series of video recollections that each shares ... Read More:

Nice reproduction. It was originally filmed in great quality. Not real sure if the Blue-ray version is that much better. I viewed it on a 720p 42" LCD. But the price made it worth it.

VHS : 1492 - Conquest of Paradise (Widescreen Edition)
I go to movies for entertainment, and unless the movie has been touted as a 100%, bona fide accurate portrayal of the subject, then I have no problem if facts are embellished. This is Ridley Scott's vision of Christopher Columbus and his quest for the New World, and he has artistic license to create his vision and in my opinion did so magnificently with this film. I never got the feeling that Columbus was made a hero by this movie. The portrayal I saw was of a deeply flawed, brilliant man who did in fact commit great wrong against the natives, and returned to Europe completely ... Read More:
