This is truly a wonderful film if you wish to get a sense for class conflict in nineteenth-century Europe. I regularly show the film to my European history classes and believe it is high time that a DVD version be released.

Out of boredom,I was changing from channel to channel when I tuned in to the MGM cinema and saw this scene, an austere but beautiful young woman was being taught a French song by an amorous French voice coach. The woman's voice was heavenly, the setting was in an drab cottage. It gripped my attention and I saw the whole film without knowing what it was. At the end credits, the principal actress was identified, Stephanie Audran, and the costumes were by Karl Lagerfield, so I realized that it must have been ... Read More:

Upon viewing the dvd it appeared to be a copy and not an original product. The movie played fine and my grandchildren are happy but I am dissappointed that I was decieved.

Definitely strange, interesting and fun!!! Very unique idea for a film!!!

This movie is for the "COMPLEX THINKER" or the "DYSLEXIC MIND" ...few can put this movie together in less than 2 or 3 viewings. This film literally runs forward from the end of the movie yet backwards at the same time; adding supposed real-time moments where the main character is on the phone or reminiscing about things he remembers before his assault.

Strangely enough, I got this movie the first time viewing it!! Hm? ... Read More:

Buy this video for Domingo and Raimondi. They are fabulous! Catherine Malfitano, I thought, wasn't so great. She sang pretty well, but I've heard better Tosca's than she. My biggest complaint with her is her extremely exaggerated facial expressions. She seems to be going cross-eyed in "vissi d'arte". They are frequent, annoying and just serve to ruin the wonderful atmosphere that Domingo and Raimondi have created.
Aside from her, there is some very strange blue lighting at the end of act 2 that is supposed to be ... Read More:

I can't comment on the movie since I have not watched it. But I did purchase this from the Amazon France site since it was not available here last year. No English subtitles on mine. So if you don't speak French, this DVD may not be so great.

Through this curiously simple story, Abbas Kiarostami displays a breathtaking exploration around the social body of the Iranian nation, about a seven years old girl who, in the eve of the New year- 1374 according the Iranian calendar- in her desire to buy a goldfish, loses her money on the way.

Meanwhile, two dervishes, a gentle old lady, a distracted tailor, a talkative soldier, her brother and an afghan refugee will accompany her in order to help and comfort her, around that unpleasant fact. Apparently, it's a comedy, ... Read More:

I first saw this movie in the theaters as a teenager, I took my little brothers and sister to see it and it was so good we stayed in the theater for a second showing. My friends and I that watched it when it arrived were all laughing and enjoyed the movie immensly. Something this good never goes out of style.

An impressive film that should be in any film buff's library. The scenery, acting and story are very well done. Some license is taken with the lives of both Michelangelo and Pope Julius II. However, the acting and exchanges between Heston as Michelangelo and Rex Harrison as Julius II is superb. Introduction to the film provides important views and impressions of the Vatican setting and the spectacular creation of the famous ceiling painted by Michelangelo. A must see film.

This is the perhaps the best movie I have every seen. It is informative and yet it somehow will make the viewer laugh throughout. I saw it in a class and had to come home and buy it. All I can say now is that I want some Australian friends.
