| It seems that each of Tornatore's movies (such as "Cinema Pradiso", or "The Legend of 1900") is a journey. Here too, we are offered a journey - an ageing Sicilian father visiting his grown-up children in the North. They all pretend that they are getting along well in their lives, though, the turth is much different and painly obvious.

| I have loved this movie since the first time I saw it when it was released. What acting! Don't you love to hear Richard Burton's voice? And Ms. Bujold...her acting makes the part. | I think its easily the best movie about the American Revolution. The A&E videos of TV pressentations of "The Crossing" and "Benedict Arnold" are also very good. While how good it is is a matter of opinion, anyone who thinks that Gibson's silly movie is better doesn't know much about American history. This movie has the feeling of the 1770s and the criticism of Pacino's and Kinsky's accents is amusing. | This great, unjustly forgotten John Huston film has fallen by the wayside, and that's a real shame. A striking cinematic adaptation of the Flannery O'Connor novel, Wise Blood boasts Brad Dourif in the lead role, Hazel Motes, and Dourif nails it. When you see the film, you realize it would be really tough to imagine anyone else alive at the time being able to carry off the role. Harry Dean Stanton, as usual, adds his terrific skills as the "blind" preacher Asa Hawkes, and Ned Beatty is also along for the ride as singing preacher Hoover Shoates.

| I've learned to accept Almodovar as he has (ahem) matured & gotten serious. He is my favorite director so I support all his progressions. However! I'm deeply & irrevocably in love with the movie Kika, its colors, its actors, its characters, its music, its dialogue, its spell. Having watched it as much as I have, I've analyzed scenes & themes that otherwise would have escaped a one time viewing only. | It took the powers that be years to decide to release this film on Region 1 DVD format. This is a brilliant film about relationships and love and life. The French know how to make a film that stays with you, there ain't no hollywood ending here. So worth the wait. |
