| If you are a fan of the Blaxploitation films of the 70's this is definitely a great movie for your collection. This film is not low-budget and has a great story line and plot. Although the main character being possessed by the spirit of a criminal from the 1930's who is seeking revenge is a little far fetched. Overall, this is a great movie with a great cast. |

| I walked into `Eve's Bayou' with high expectations. One of my film snob friends (I can call him that, he's cool with it) said that this was one of the greatest ensemble pieces of all time, and while I wasn't really sure what all the movie was about and had really heard nothing about it, I took his word for it anyways and decided to give it a watch through.

| We laughed hysterically at this movie. The blacks making fun of their own kind made it so funny. It's nice to have it in our library to watch when we've had a rough day at work & want to laugh for a change. We can watch it over & over & still laugh. I recommend it for everyone's psyche. |

| Now this movie is one baad muther-shut-your mouth! I thought this was an excellent movie that tried to portray the life of a private detective in the Harlem of the early 70's in a gritty and hence more realistic manner. As a result, this movie is certainly dated and unmistakenably of that time and place as witnessed by the lingo and slang used liberally throughout and yet I found it still very enjoyable to watch even today.

| ...there was `Do the Right Thing'. Honestly, anyone that downgrades `Crash' for being far too heavy-handed and unrealistic in its portrayal of race relations, yet lauds `Do the Right Thing' is obviously out of their minds; for the two films are practically the same film. The only thing that `Do the Right Thing' has going for it is the time issue, as in the film is set back in the 80's when this type of behavior was more prevalent (`Crash' is so incredibly unrealistic I wanted to literally kill Paul Haggis).
