| In the original "Batman" & "Batman Returns," the storylines (or what shreds there were) were overwhelmed by the comic-book schtick left over from the wonderful 1960's "Batman" series. The schtick was fine for the series, but for the films...AUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. GOOD GRIEF! In "Batman Forever," Akiva Goldsman took over the screenwriting duties and the schtick was eliminated, giving way to a firmly grounded storyline. | I saw this movie when it first came out now 30 years ago. Arkin and Caan pair up to deliver probably the funniest police duo ever. The chase scenes, special effects (as when their car plunges off a overpass into an elderly couple's apartment), and the humor are better than just about anything you can find in a similar movie today. Plus the actors just wouldn't be as classy as Arkin and Caan. By the way, this was the movie that Lethal Weapon basically copied for many of its ideas. | The movie, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", was a very good movie and I did enjoy it. Soon after the beginning, there is an odd bus ride that I did not enjoy as much as I did in reading about it in the book. Also, the movie overdoes the warnings of potential dangers from Sirius Black. Finally, there are some serious changes from the book that appear in the movie. And, there is a bunch of things in the book that do not make it to the movie.

| TALL TALE has the potential to be an excellent film. The possibilities of a tall tale adventure with Pecos Bill, Calamity Jane, Paul Bunyan, and John Henry should be great. This isn't.
The two stars I gave it are for two performances that head and pretty good cast and the music by Randy Edelmen (the genius behind GETTYSBURG's score). Patrick Swayze is an excellent actor, and now I fully appreciate his ability to turn a complete dud of a role into gold. | One of the best fun movies of the 80's. I had the honor of driving Mr. Brest, the director, on this film. He also gave me a small part. I am the Amarillo Policeman that releases John Ashton's character. I send him on to Flagstaff. This is one you can watch over and over. We shot all over the country. New York, Chicago (train), in Arizona (Globe, Flagstaff, Clarkdale, etc), LA and Vegas. I had a great time helping make this film and you will have a great time watching it many, many times. |
