| This is the 716th review of this movie! What can I say that has not already been said about this wonderfully compelling movie? I will not comment on the restoration process or the pros and cons of buying the 2-disk or 4-disk set, as this is adequately discussed by many other reviewers. I will say that this movie won 10 Academy awards and is still regarded as the 6th best epic movie of all-time. That should be credentials enough to want to view this extraordinary movie.

| I am going to start by saying that I am not a fan of war movies. This series is hands down the best war story I have ever seen. I think it is better than any other war movie or series that I have seen because it focuses on a variety of characters. It isn't just one or two main people. Everyone's flaws and fears and pain is so real. It's long, but you can't stop once you start. I have seen the series 3 times now, and I really want to get the Blu-Ray version and watch it again! |

| I always have to debunk those negative remarks when it comes to military movies. First of all, the U.S. government is not going to allow a true movie to come about any mission. Secondly, the director got the idea from someone who was obviously involved in this situation so don't blame them, blame the person who told it. Black Hawk Down contained fallacies itself. | Private Eddie Slovik was the only Army deserter to be shot in WW II, the first since the Civil War. This TV film is a dramatization of the events. [No mention of the soldiers who were executed for murder or rape.] The red keystone patch on the shoulders identify their outfit. In reality, the firing squad had no regrets about their job, or so the books say. The beginning spends time on the details of the execution, slowing the pace. | This is without a doubt one of the top five movies of all time. The acting is superb and the movie keeps you interested through out. Gary Cooper is brilliant, but the actress who plays Mother York, Margaret Wycherly, steals the show. I have seen this movie several times in my lifetime and I become deeply engrossed everytime I watch it. This is one of the best bargains ($10.99) you will ever find for a DVD.
