VHS : Sound of Music
I've loved this movie since I was very young and was so happy when I could buy it on DVD for such a cheap price! I love the music and the story but what I loved about this version is the reunion of all of the actors and actress' still around in 2005! Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Charmain Carr, Nicholas Hammond, Heather Menzies, Duane Chase, Angela Cartwright, Debbie Turner and Kym Karath.
They all looked so happy to be with each other again and they made it look like they were the Von Trapp family ... Read More:

VHS : Casablanca (Aniv B&W)
The picture quality of this release of Casablanca is amazing. It is clearly the best quality ever made available to the public. (I'm anxious to read reviews of the new Blu-Ray release to learn whether there is any meaningful improvement over this fantastic version.)

Many believe "Casablanca" was the greatest movie of the 20th century. Its ending is perhaps the most moving of any movie. In the course of the film, the cynical, self-interest hero (Rick) gradually develops to a point where he realizes his own ... Read More:

VHS : The Execution of Private Slovik
Private Eddie Slovik was the only Army deserter to be shot in WW II, the first since the Civil War. This TV film is a dramatization of the events. [No mention of the soldiers who were executed for murder or rape.] The red keystone patch on the shoulders identify their outfit. In reality, the firing squad had no regrets about their job, or so the books say. The beginning spends time on the details of the execution, slowing the pace. Then there are flashbacks to Slovik's past. Time in jail made him 4F, the war made jobs plentiful. ... Read More:

VHS : A Midnight Clear
I watch this film every Christmas Season.Odd choice? Well, if you consider that the Season is about "peace, good will to all" then yes.A MIDNIGHT CLEAR is a look at the two small platoons of beleagured soldiers from America and Germany (who make it quite clear that they are not Nazis, and the F%$# Hitler!) who meet quite unexpectedly in the Ardennes Woods in December 1944 in the final year of WW2.The point of the film is to show that War is not all that some glorify it to be.This is a "different" approach to War, much like the recent LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA where human ...
