VHS : Iron Man: The Origin of Iron Man
This felt like '80s animation watching Ironman. The music is a strange mix of organ, pipes; I didn't care for the opening theme.
I did like the idea of Tony using Thermo-energy as a source for a Chip Plant. Pretty clever idea for a comic. Also, Tony stark was charging up on energy where ever he could -LONG before we had USB cables :)

The bad guys are pretty forgettable and uninteresting, except perhaps Fin Fang Foom. I liked how he didn't follow thru with his promise to the Mandarin. ... Read More:

VHS : Street Fight (aka "Coonskin")

"Coonskin" (re-christened "Street Fight" for the logical sake of political correctness) is a film, by the one and only Ralph Bakshi, is reportedly a satricial indictment of blaxploitation films and negative black stereotypes, as well as a look at life black in modern America (modern for the day, I mean--1975). Paramount dropped it like a hot potato that just burst into flame.

Since "political correctness" is very enforced in this country to the point of fascism--freedom ... Read More:

In the early 80's, a middle aged woman in New York City meets up with a mysterious stranger who gives her a leather jacket that remindes her of someone she knew once. He tells her and the viewer the story of what happened in the Bronx in 1953, Vinnie (Voiced by Richard Romanus from "Wizards" and "Heavy Metal") is a stylish rebel whom kind of looks like an ape mixed with John Travolta who had such a sweet life with a good friend named Crazy Shapiro (Voiced by David Proval who voiced Peace in "Wizards") and a sexy ... VHS : J.R.R. Tolkien Giftset (The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings/The Return of the King)
This package of three titles brings together a Ralph Bakshi production with two by Rankin-Bass (who would have thought?).

'The Hobbit' and 'The Return of the King' are the R-B Productions, and in quality they evoke much of what endeared other R-B animation to TV viewers during the holidays. As one reviewer has already pointed out, the animators they use prove to be great stylists within a limited budget. I always thought R-B was trying to rival Disney at a fraction of the cost, and in retrospect they clearly had. Especially ... Read More:

Hello again from this particular aisle of the abstract retail market.

Along with the Jiri Barta collection, the recommendation of Jan Svankmajer's Faust comes as no surprise because, well, I own and review a lot of animation and happen to already have Lunacy, Alice, and the Ossuary and Other Tales disc of Svankmajer's own oeuvre.

Svankmajer is a visually and poetically crafty person with a real eye towards creating splintered, abstract realities. His stories in many cases are relatively beside the point, which ... Read More:

VHS : The Mighty Thor: Enter Hercules / The Tomorrow Man
Present-day mythology at its best headlined gy the God of Thunder! The 1st story gor underway in "...Hercules", as Thor got smack-dab in the middle of a love triangle here. Thor loves Nurse Jane Foster, but his father Odin wasn't having it. With help from Zeus, he sent Herc down to Earth to court Jane away from Thor, who got struck by jealousy as Jane planned (why?). Thus, the most powerful fight between the scions of Asgard and Olympus began...for the heart of a mortal woman? Anyway, I was rooting for Ol' Goldilocks to win until Odin took some "advice" ...
