| Watched it on TV A Couple of times. Loved It. The Ground Enemies. The Fight for Water. The Sword Fights. The Part where Patrick Gets Caught In a Bath Tub by the Villian. Cool Movie, Definately a Gem. Wish More People Saw It. If You Liked Road Warrior, Fortress, Screamers, or Lord of The Rings This is a Must for You. You Won't Be Dissapointed. |

| On second thought, my title to this review should be "Missing THE Action", which is the film's dominating and damning problem: starring action hero Kurt Russell ("Escape from New York") and directed by genre resident Paul Anderson ("Mortal Kombat"), I expected "Soldier" to be a veritable action-powerhouse...yet the film goes beyond missing its mark and lacks any definitive direction - unsure if it wants to be a an action flick, a survival story, or a social critique.

| Some extra features on the making of the film with Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, etc. Still a wild ride of a film all these years later. Alot of Phil Tippets stop-motion effects would be CGI today. This edition contains both the original theatrical edition and the extended unrated version. The later is considerably more violent -- particularly in the scene where Boddicker's men shoot up Murphy. | Following the rise of the apes and some sort of man-made catastrophe (probably nuclear war) a community of apes and humans live together in peace. It's the evil human survivors of the nuclear war who still live in New York City who have an issue with the situation and all sorts of hijinks ensue.
Probably the weakest film in the series it is also the one that really requires the viewer to have a strong grasp of what went on in the other movies, especially Battle for the Planet of the Apes. Still, it IS good sci-fi! |

| The title says it all here folks. I've been a long time fan of this series (and by series, I mean 'Mad Max' and 'The Road Warrior', not that abortion of a movie 'Max Max beyond Thunderdome'). Anyway, this is the Australian release titled 'Mad Max 2', not 'The Road Warrior', so it has a slightly different intro, and they do refer to Mel's character as Max, not as the 'man with no name' like they did in the U.S. version.

| Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is a well known martial artist who plays bad guy Warlord Ruechang. Dolph Lungren is one of Ruechang's loyal soldiers who is trained to never question orders. However, Reuchang continues to abuse the princess, played by Rachel Shane, whose father he killed. Lungren finally challenges Ruechang to a final scene that is very 'extreme' with broken bones and even sword action!

| The product description for this dvd is hugely misleading. Not only is the running time just the extended cut and theatrical cut combined, but the extended cut is the TV version broadcast on ABC without the nudity, excessive violence and profanity. So unless you want the real director's cut which doesn't exist, this is definitely NOT it. |
