| As for the person who complained that Martin Scorcese called the '80's the "me" decade, that was a popular theme of the time. Maybe you should go back and look at 80's and the literature about it from all kind of sources. Just like the 20's was often refered to as the "Roaring" 20's. 80's was often called the "me" decade. | This really is a great movie. Wells does a fantastic job as narrator. It's great fun and great entertainment. I remember watching this movie in the mid 80's on VHS and being freaked out about the end of the world predictions. Time passed and we're still here. The story is filled holes and lies, but it's all good fun just the same. |

| First off, let me clarify in my personal response that I've never been a fan of the historical fiction genre. Historical fiction books bore me, and they never seem to contain the excitement found in contemporary fiction. Sarah, Plain and Tall, while more character-centric than most historical fiction books, still just didn't catch my interest. | I have used this documentary in my physics classes for the past 8 years during our unit on planetary and satellite motion, and they always LOVE it. The "storytelling" presentation really pulls them into the film, and they get so attached to the Mercury Seven that we have to pass around the tissues when Gus dies in the Apollo I fire. It also serves as a springboard into a great historical discussion of that era - one that many students never make it to in class. | Some of the choices on Biographiy's list do not belong. Princess Diana doesn't belong at all. She is rated #73--higher than Stalin, Peter the Great and the Beatles! I almost turned the video off, expecting Muhammad Ali or Marilyn Monroe to pop up ahead of Magellan or FDR. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the top 40 choices. I feel the following people do not belong on this list: Patient Zero, Eleanor Roosevelt, Diana, Harriet Tubman, Margaret Sanger, Mary Wollstonecraft.
