I have waited years to see this movie again. Of course, it's not as creepy as I remembered it but I still enjoyed it. A must addition to my sci fi collection.

VHS : Phantom of the Opera (1962)
I viewed three versions(1925, 1962 and 2004) of "The Phantom of the Opera" and enjoyed the ones made in 1962 and in 2004. I love the story of the 1962 version;the phantom is proved to be a respected music professor, a victim also a hero(by saving Christine's life) and people find out who is the actual "monster". Its stage is taken place in London Opera House instead of Paris.

VHS : Curse of Werewolf
I saw this movie when I was 16 years old and I never forgot it. I went back to the theatre several times because I enjoyed it so much. When I was older, I rented the movie to see if it was as really as good as I recalled it to be. I was just as impressed with it when I was 30 as I was when I was 16. I can still say(and I am 59 years old) tthis was the best horror film I ever saw and definitely the one I thought was most memorable in my life. It was all due to the fantastic color and acting. I have seen other ... Read More:

VHS : Brides of Dracula
Brides of Dracula was the first of Hammer's many sequels to their breakthrough hit, and it's not just the best of the series but one of their very best pictures. There's no Christopher Lee this time round - in fact, there's no Dracula at all - but there's a lot of imagination at play here in a beautifully plotted story that sees Peter Cushing's Van Helsing coming up against David Peel's Baron Meinster, a follower of Dracula's vampire cult, after Yvonne Monlaur's schoolteacher ill-advisedly releases him from the shackles his ... VHS : Quatermass 2
Professor Barnard Quatermass (Brian Donlevy of "Gamera the Invincible") returns in "Quatermass 2," the sequel to Hammer Production's "The Quatermass Xperiment." This classic science fiction horror masterpiece is as excellent, if not superior, as the original. Professor Quatermass appears to have mellowed since we first met him; he displays more compassion towards his fellow man.

Professor Quatermass learns that meteorites of uniform size and shape are falling at regular intervals and landing in a particular site. ... Read More:

VHS : Rasputin: Mad Monk (Ws)
Whilst this isn't a classic a Hammer film by any means, it does make for strangely compelling viewing. The film was obviously made on a very small budget, and I suspect it was filmed soon after Dracula: Prince of Darkness as the cast is very similiar and some of the same sets look the same.

Rasputin is a drinker and womaniser who has healing powers. Using these he becomes the trusted Doctor to the Zsars wife. However his motives are suspect.. Christopher Lee plays the title role (based on a real historical person and in part true) and ... Read More:

VHS : The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires
An extravagant claim but one I'm gonna endeavor to back up.
'Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires' is the last horror picture Peter Cushing made for Hammer, and is magnificent. He plays Van Helsing, (yes.. honest!)and to his eternal credit he looks believably close to tears every time he utters an emotionally-charged line like "In Europe it is the crucifix, in Asia; the image of the Lord Buddha".
I adore Peter Cushing anyway, and to see him in any film is good for me, but to see him in a work of this magnitude and gravitas is a real treat. He must be lying ... Read More:

VHS : Mummy (1959)
In this, 1959's third installment from Hammer Studios, Christopher Lee dons the moldy bandages for a vengeful rampage across the Victorian countryside. Lee plays Kharis, an Egyptian priest returned from the afterlife, searching for archaeologist John Banning (Peter Cushing) and his expedition, to exact revenge on Banning and his team, for desecrating his beloved Princess Ananka's tomb. Directed by Terrence Fisher, this film has good lighting and music score, as well as costumes and make-up, which brings that classic element of horror to the screen, that we all know and ... VHS : The Satanic Rites Of Dracula
I just caught this movie on the late late show at 3am. Its a Hammer production so I had high hopes. Then I saw the names of legendary Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing (the two stars in this review are for them only.) The movie went downhill after the opening credits. There is the usual Satanic ritual going on which shows how popular the Devil was in the 70's. But what really didn't work for me was the modern setting. Seeing Van Helsing walking around in London without all the old style gothic settings of past Hammer films didn't sit with me. It reached the point of being absurd when ... Read More:
