VHS : Jackie Brown
Quinton Tarantino is one of those directors you either love or hate, but there is no denying that he has talent, and what makes his talent even more obvious is his rich sense of style. Tarantino has a very unique charm that he layers his films with, giving them such warm originality.

Much like with directors Baz Luhrmann and David Fincher, a Quinton Tarantino film is undeniably a film by Quinton Tarantino.

With that said; the fact that some have criticized `Jackie Brown' ... Read More:

This movie is my favorite blaxploitation flick of all time...the big problem is that the xenon versions of the movie are cut. There's some sleazy video store in the neighborhood that has the un-cut vhs version. I have no idea why xenon buys the rights then cuts up the film.

'Am I Black enough for you?' That was the question the Right, Righteous, Reverend, Deke O'Malley asked of the people. I saw this when I was 14, in 1971 and have never forgotten it. Calvin Lockhart, Raymond St. Jacques, Godfrey Cambridge and the Drop-Dead Gorgeous...Judy Pace, made me sit in the State Theater and watch this at least 4 times running...right on my brother...Right On!!!

The cameo by Redd Foxx gave it a sense of legitimacy too, because as cool as he was, he was comfortable playing a junk ... Read More:

Instead of giving props to the movie, which was marginal at best. I'll speak on the costume designer. Bravo for the clothes...they were "Out Of Sight!" Also, Priest's car was the sickest car I've ever seen in my life...I want one.

7.In Your Face starring: J. Walter Smith, Tobar Mayo, Roxie Young, Gladys Lum, Tony Rumford
directed by: Frank Packard
June 25, 1996
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : In Your Face
Despite the rediculously inaccurate box-art, this is an excellent, excellent party film. The title "In Your Face" exists only on the box and video itself, for when you pop it into the VCR you are immediately greeted with the true title, "ABAR". Grin with glee as our hero, ABAR, sticks it to the suckas who are trying to run a black doctor out of a white neighborhood. There's an excellent "ABAR jump-kicks a dude" scene that you'll have to watch for. The story heats up to a fever pitch, when, after all other ideas are exhausted, ... Read More:

VHS : Black Belt Jones
I saw this movie the one and only time when I was eight in the theatre and I remember the entire black audience roaring through the whole thing. I didn't know what was better, Black Belt Jones, Enter the Dragon, or Three the Hard Way. But I do know I loved them all. I'm now 39 and I've seen Three'' and Enter'' a couple of times over the years but I could not find Black Belt Jones anywhere to save my life. Well, turns out a friend of mine had a copy on DVD (yes there is one) and I just watched it. I LOVED IT ALL OVER AGAIN! Sure, it's ... Read More:

VHS : Black Sister's Revenge
I was lucky, or unlucky, enough to see this movie Fri. night 3/21/08 on the TCM channel. This is what you get when you can't sleep. By the way, it was followed by Penitentiary, but I digress. This movie hooked me like a roadside fatality car accident, I didn't want to look, but I couldn't look away. The acting was awful, but the story was interesting; it showed the lengths a sister would go to for her man, when she ain't got nothing to lose and she is from "Sippi" or Mississippi for the unhip. And, let those last five minutes be a lesson ... Read More:
