| This movie is perfection in every way. It is so perfect that I never get tired of watching it over and over again. We really have the impression of living in Jane Austen's time when watching that movie. All the actors are brilliant, above all Allison Steadman who is superb as Mrs. Bennet.
Hats off Andrew Davies, Sue Birtwistle and Simon Langton for such a "chef d'oeuvre". |

| I found this movie to be entertaining, but there were several inaccuaracies(although much better than the Patriot).
1. The Hessians were not drunk. It is a myth. 2. I doubt Washington would have used such language, it seems very, very unlike him. 3. No ice in the river, and they attaced in a nor easter, I did not see any snow. 4. Henry Knox is poorly portrayed and it was he who had overall command of the crossing, not Glover. 5.. There ... It has a lot of great information and it doesn't dumb it down (if you get what I mean). Its not just a biography of the events in Shakespeare's life, it looks at him as a man and explores how events in his life triggered his creative process. | DO NOT BUY this series! After hearing for years about the vaunted "Jewel in the Crown" series, my wife and I checked out the tapes from the library and watched the whole thing. It was awful. The best DVD reproduction in the world couldn't save this film.
We thought maybe we'd learn a little history while getting caught up in the stories of the characters, but we were wrong on both counts. Maybe if you knew some of the history of India's emerging independence, the story would make sense to you, but to us, it was all muddled ... Read More: |
