VHS : National Geograhic Video - The Noble Horse
My 6-year old has been enjoying this video for about a year. There are some parts that are a bit strong - in terms of content (like the parts dealing with horse slaughter and the death of some of the Mongolian horses) - but she gets through it.

There is a similar Nature series video, starring Julia Roberts, that explores the history of the Mongolian horse.

Both are great for the horse lover.

VHS : National Geographic's Amazon: Land of the Flooded Forest
This video is a good intro into the life of the Amazon. I enjoyed how it balances the strangeness appeal of different creatures in the jungle with the scientific rigour to explain the terrain and the different environments animals and plants face throughout the year (rainy flooded season, dry season, etc.)

I strongly recommend this video for someone planning to visit the Amazon for the first time, just to have an idea of what to expect and to better be able to understand the explanations guides ... Read More:

VHS : National Geographic's Jewels of the Caribbean Sea
Jewels of the Caribbean is by far the best documentary I have seen on marine life. I am a marine biologist and have seen probably every show out there. The footage, narrations, music, etc. on this video are wonderful. The shot of the ray swimming in circles in front of the camera's light is amazing. I have watched this movie dozens of times and never get tired of watching it. I teach marine biology and make a point if having my students watch this video (and they don't even fall asleep!). I highly recommend this video to ... Read More:

VHS : National Geographic's Braving Alaska
I naturally agree with the previous reviews of this splendid Documentary which encapsulates the dramatic distinct Seasons in that part of Alaska. The families featured on this film certainly led active lives considering the harsh extremes of the Seasons. I travelled up to the Northern Coastal plain in the Brooks Range a few years ago, and was privileged to be in the company of , Roger The Bush Pilot , it was great travelling with a person so well versed on the country, and Wildlife of Alaska. I give this film my high recommendation.

VHS : National Geographic's Really Wild Animals: Amazing North America
We own all of the tapes in this series and think that this and Swinging Safari are the two best. The photography is great, the music is wonderful, and Dudley Moore's narration is perfect. Great for kids of all ages and adults as well.

VHS : National Geographic's Animal Holiday
Adorable is a great word for this video-a very nice change from animation and the kids are completely intrigued to see the live animal footage set to holiday music and with Santa doing the voice over...a classic in the making!

VHS : National Geographic's In the Shadow of Vesuvius
This is one of my family's favorite videos. Kids as young as 5 are engrossed in the footage of Vesuvius and the remains of the city of Pompeii. My son's first grade teacher has requested this video to share with all the first graders in their study of Ancieng Greece & Rome

VHS : Reflections On Elephants
I loved this video! The beginning with the elephants in the water relaxing expresses a favorite elephant characteristic of mine -- they enjoy having fun and can be very laid back! Other parts of the video, such as the story of the abandoned baby elephant, show the seriousness of the life of an elephant in the wild, as well as their compassion for other animals. (They could have left the baby to fend for itself, but they did not.) The scenes in which the elephants were seen only as shadows in the background capture the elephant spirit, ... Read More:

9.National Geographic's Puma: Lion of the Andes starring: National Geographic

VHS : National Geographic's Puma: Lion of the Andes
This is a typically well-produced National Geographic movie about the puma. The puma's an elusive animal, and filmmaker Hugh Miles has done an extraordinary job spending two years in Chile filming his subject. The filming is very good, the narration (by Mr Miles) is excellent, and the overall quality of the film is very good.

Why 4 and not 5 stars, then?

Well, maybe I am comparing with wildlife films shot in Africa, which track other big cats that are probably less elusive than the puma and are present in greater numbers. ... Read More:
