VHS : Kiki's Delivery Service
I could see why some people wouldn't appreciate this film. If you wrote the plot down on a piece of paper, this film would look pretty dull. Girl witch leaves home, she meets some people, makes some deliveries, etc. So, I perfectly understand why some may find it boring. The story of Kiki's Delivery Service is really more character-driven than plot-driven. I feel the movie really excels in this department. The characters are very likeable/endearing. I fully enjoyed seeing Kiki come into her own as she gained some ... Read More:

VHS : Hello Kitty: Santa's Missing Hat
My daughter and I loved this video. I am always baffled when parents get upset that this video "suggests" to their innocent children that Santa Claus might not be real. This concept is ubiquitous - havn't your kids ever seen a version of "A Christmas Story"? Santa Claus is not real, and why is it so important to you to perpetuate a falsehood as long as possible? Also, why would one reader immediately blame the country of Japan. This demonstrates extreme ethnocentricity, provinciality and ignorance. This DVD could have been made anywhere. ... Read More:

VHS : Robot Carnival
In the early 90s, the most widely available anime titles were released stateside through Streamline Pictures, largely thanks to Carl Maceck, who had much to do with the Americanized version of Macross, Mospeada, and Southern Cross in the form of Robotech. If you weren't exposed to anime in the underground world of fansubs and comic cons, then along with Robotech, you probably saw Vampire Hunter D, Akira, and this little jewel. Of the aformentioned titles, it's the only one not on DVD in the USA.

That's a shame too, because it's such a beautiful ... Read More:
