| I am a dancer and ballet is my favorite type of dance. I have seen dozens of different Nutcrackers over the years, from the traditional to the avand garde. Nothing can compare with this version. Baryshnikov shines. And Kirkland is a most sensuous Clara/Marie. Their duet at the end replaced the traditional "sugarplum fairy" dance. But, what a duet! I never get tired of watching it. A true Christmas treasure. |

| I remember watching and loving this opera every year when I was a child. I was disappointed when the network stopped airing it. Now that Mr. Menotti has passed away, perhaps the news coverage will encourage the production of a good DVD version of this classic. Hope someone's listening! |

| Excellent performance by all the actors and opera singers. It was a very good idea to transport the classic opera into a movies version. This adaptation is not new, nevertheless, is a masterpiece for all times. Congratulations ! |

| "The Vienna I Love" is my favorite early Andre Rieu performance. Filmed in 1995, Rieu was still a hungry artist fighting to get known. During this concert, Andre plays a magical rendition of "Meditation" that will bring tears to your eyes. This concert is worth owning just for "Meditation", as Rieu rarely plays this piece, but it is full of great music. While many of the elements that Rieu uses in his current performances are there, you get to see his style just developing and his tentative steps toward involving the audience with classical music. ... | Domingo sings beautifully, Stratas less so but looks and acts the part. The biggest problem is there are so many cuts and shortened arias that you could almost call this "extended highlights". And Zeferelli over-produces, particularly with camera work. If you want a movie version get Anna Moffo's of over 30 years ago. Now there was a Violetta! |

| I throughly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to any one who enjoys good music. The plot was entertaining and you were hoping that his wife would win out in the end. A good way to spend a couple of hours. |

The location was spectacular: the fabled Roman ruins of the Baths of Caracalla.
