VHS : Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
It's hard to believe anyone could build a feature-length story on a song and come up with something this good. But writer Romeo Mueller and producers Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin, Jr. did just that.

This story of misfits finding their rightful place in the world is just the Christmas tale solitary children the world over need to hear. Its beautiful and subversive message feels all the more heartfelt because we receive it through the delicately hand-wrought images of stop-motion animation. ... Read More:

VHS : Ryman Gospel Reunion
Well, here's how it all began...again.

I realize Bill and Gloria and most of their friends have been writing and singing great gospel songs long before I was even thought of. But when Bill Gaither gathered dozens of his friends together for a 1995 TV special that aired on TNN, it was a fresh new beginning that would eventually bring millions of people (me being one) to see that southern gospel music is somthing that everyone can enjoy and feel His power first hand!

This special is the one that spawned ... Read More:

VHS : Joy in the Camp
Bill Gaither often says that if Christians can't get along on earth what are they going to do when they get to Heaven where they HAVE to get along. This is one of the favorite Gaither Homecoming dvd's. It exudes pure joy and is very funny. Actually it has the best humor of all the dvd's in my opinion.

Those of you who know your Bible remember that Shadrach, Meschah & Abednego (I hope I spelled them right) were put in the fiery furnace because they would not bow to the King. But they did not burn and there ... Read More:

VHS : Concert For Bangladesh
The biggest disappointment was the forgotten lyrics on "It Don't Come Easy" and "Something". It's really embarrassing.

Also disappointing was the picture quality. There is lots of grain in the picture. The technology was lacking at the time, so this is probably as good as can be expected. You could save a good bit of money buying this on VHS and not lose much in the way of picture quality, but you wouldn't get the extras on the second disk.

There are also 3 rehearsal performances included, but they didn't bother to ... Read More:

VHS : Sweeney Todd
Angela is fantastic as always. She made me laugh will her portrayal of Mrs. Lovett. The costumes are very nice. The set is the pits with one piece that men come out and turn 90 or 180 degrees for different scenes. There is a very annoying air horn they blow every 15 minutes, I guess to wake up the audience. The cast do their best with the material. However, as Stephen Sondheim always does, the songs go from beautiful to God-awful. What is the point of a "song" with NO melody and people singing lyrics very quickly and over each other so you can't understand ... Read More:
