| For the most part, this is a good film: well-written, well-photographed, well-directed and well-acted. But for me, Gene Tierney simply does not have the beauty or strength or charisma that the part of Laura seems to call for. She's certainly pretty, but not beautiful or striking. She's competent, but I wouldn't call her brilliant. I'm told that she is all these things but I really can't see it for myself. | Why is this movie out of print ? This is a great movie, fantastic thriller. There is one scene set in a nudists' club. Is that the problem ?
I just can't stand the MPAA. Not sure if it their fault, but it certainly smells like it. |

| The Blue Dahlia is a quintessential film noir, one of the great films that defined the genre. Army men return from World War II to find their wives drunk and cheating with scumbag jazz club owners. Whether this film has not been released on DVD in the U.S. is quite curious, considering almost every film noir has been burned onto DVD in various collections of the genre. | I saw 'Executive Action' when it first came out in 1973, and it has stuck with me all these years. It was gone from the theaters pretty fast, and I thought maybe it was "pulled" because of the truth it revealed. So when I stumbled upon it at Amazon, I almost jumped out of my chair.

| I've watched my video copy of this movie twice. Enjoyed it both times. Plot may be kind of crazy, but so what? It's still a fun movie. The plot has been described successfully by another reviewer, so I'll not waste time describing it again.

| This film is one that requires the watcher to immerse oneself in another world. A world of cold war tensions, clandestine operations, high level plants and communist witch hunts. Historical facts not with standing, it is a very enjoyable film and is very well done. The pacing and character development is second to none. The movie is star studded and the talent of those present is easily recognizable.

| What were they thinking? Perhaps director Garry Marshall thought he could do for S&M what he'd done for the women of the evening in Pretty Woman. Wrap up an edgy topic in a big cute bow, and through humor make it palatable, even entertaining, to the masses. But you thought wrong Mr. Marshall.
