1.The Villain starring: Kirk Douglas, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ann-Margret, Paul Lynde, Foster Brooks
directed by: Hal Needham
September 29, 1997

VHS : The Villain
This is a western/comedy as good as Blazing Saddles or Maverick. And oddly enough, it has Arnold in it?! But don't expect his favorite catch phrase "I'll be back". This is much older than Terminator.

2.Quick & The Dead starring: Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobin Bell
directed by: Sam Raimi
January 30, 1996

VHS : Quick & The Dead
Action movies are only as good as their villains. Heroics require really nasty bad guys.

Gene Hackman skillfully portrays an antagonist so mean you know he'd kill his own son. Sharon Stone, for the most part, credibly plays the protagonist, but her motivation for revenge seems filched from Harmonica in Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West.

The remaining cast of bad guys are cartoonish and the plot stretches credulity beyond the limits, but fine acting and a unique ... Read More:

3.The Good, the Bad and the Ugly starring: Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach, Lee Van Cleef, Aldo Giuffrè, Luigi Pistilli
directed by: Sergio Leone
June 06, 2000

VHS : The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
This is a fantastic film, a brilliant example of a western or a war film, as well as being a very entertaining movie. The action is brutal and the directing makes this an amazing spectacle.

This is one of the best films I've ever seen.

4.Once Upon a Time in the West starring: Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Claudia Cardinale, Jason Robards, Gabriele Ferzetti
directed by: Sergio Leone
February 19, 1997
Average Rating: out of 5 stars
>>More Details
VHS : Once Upon a Time in the West
Sergio Leone is unique in his field, and particularly in the western genre. He was in his fourth year of spaghetti western, let's say in full swing, in this film. You know it is Sergio Leone by several elements that do not tell a lie. The music always has the same texture, the same taste, the same sonorities, with the eternal harmonica. Then the landscape, the sunshine, the light, the vegetation and of course practically no fauna, and in this one, not even a snake. Hardly a few horses, a couple of partridges, ... Read More:

5.High Plains Drifter starring: Walter Barnes, Verna Bloom, Paul Brinegar, Richard Bull, Billy Curtis
March 01, 1992
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : High Plains Drifter
This is Clint Eastwood at his imcomparable best. To me, it even outranks "Unforgiven."

6.A Fistful of Dollars starring: Clint Eastwood, Gian Maria Volontè, Marianne Koch, Wolfgang Lukschy, Sieghardt Rupp
directed by: Monte Hellman, Sergio Leone
May 04, 1999
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : A Fistful of Dollars
If you have already watched Sergio Leone's other western movies like 'For a Few Dollars More' or 'Once Upon A Time In The West', you better avoid this one. Sheer repeat. Only unique feature is Ennio Morricone's music. Rest, just another western movie based on a small town of a single road. Setting is not that ambitious in this one.
Eastwood is also all the same - not able to escape the sheer monotonous look of the other western movies of Leone. He does not look to have even a clear agenda in this edition! ... Read More:

7.From Dusk Till Dawn starring: Harvey Keitel, George Clooney, Juliette Lewis, Quentin Tarantino, Ernest Liu
directed by: Robert Rodriguez
October 07, 1997
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : From Dusk Till Dawn
This movie contains a lot of violence and gore. However the acting and special effects are more like those of a comic book than a serious film. There is neither suspense nor horror in this movie.

8.The Wild Bunch - 30th Anniversary Edition starring: William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Robert Ryan, Edmond O'Brien, Warren Oates
directed by: Sam Peckinpah
May 11, 1999
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : The Wild Bunch - 30th Anniversary Edition
I put this in my top 25 greatest westerns. Lots of good actors. Lots of shoot em up. Vengeance is the driving force of the story. Good sub plots. Will be or is a western classic. I bought the box set of Sam Peckinpah's western. Was worth the price for 4 movies and free delivery.

9.Duel in the Sun starring: Jennifer Jones, Joseph Cotten, Gregory Peck, Lionel Barrymore, Herbert Marshall
directed by: David O. Selznick, Josef von Sternberg, King Vidor, Otto Brower, Sidney Franklin
July 14, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Duel in the Sun
This has always been one of my favorites westerns, although I never went to the trouble of getting a DVD version, until it came up on my Amazon recommendation list. I ordered it right away, and received the usual good Amazon service, and quick, free shipping, and have not been disappointed. Gregory Peck is one of best actors, and makes the movie, playing the bad guy this time, instead of his usual hero role. I can personally recommend this movie, going against a number of the negative reviews that are posted here.

10.Rancho Deluxe starring: Jeff Bridges, Sam Waterston, Elizabeth Ashley, Clifton James, Slim Pickens
directed by: Frank Perry
September 01, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Rancho Deluxe
Definately low budgit but none the less funny. DVD was in good shape. Delivery was good.
