| This is a western/comedy as good as Blazing Saddles or Maverick. And oddly enough, it has Arnold in it?! But don't expect his favorite catch phrase "I'll be back". This is much older than Terminator. |

| Action movies are only as good as their villains. Heroics require really nasty bad guys.
Gene Hackman skillfully portrays an antagonist so mean you know he'd kill his own son. Sharon Stone, for the most part, credibly plays the protagonist, but her motivation for revenge seems filched from Harmonica in Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West. | This is a fantastic film, a brilliant example of a western or a war film, as well as being a very entertaining movie. The action is brutal and the directing makes this an amazing spectacle.

| Sergio Leone is unique in his field, and particularly in the western genre. He was in his fourth year of spaghetti western, let's say in full swing, in this film. You know it is Sergio Leone by several elements that do not tell a lie. The music always has the same texture, the same taste, the same sonorities, with the eternal harmonica. | If you have already watched Sergio Leone's other western movies like 'For a Few Dollars More' or 'Once Upon A Time In The West', you better avoid this one. Sheer repeat. Only unique feature is Ennio Morricone's music. Rest, just another western movie based on a small town of a single road. Setting is not that ambitious in this one.
Eastwood is also all the same - not able to escape the sheer monotonous look of the other western movies of Leone. He does not look to have even a clear agenda in this edition! ... Read More: |

| I put this in my top 25 greatest westerns. Lots of good actors. Lots of shoot em up. Vengeance is the driving force of the story. Good sub plots. Will be or is a western classic. I bought the box set of Sam Peckinpah's western. Was worth the price for 4 movies and free delivery. |

| This has always been one of my favorites westerns, although I never went to the trouble of getting a DVD version, until it came up on my Amazon recommendation list. I ordered it right away, and received the usual good Amazon service, and quick, free shipping, and have not been disappointed. Gregory Peck is one of best actors, and makes the movie, playing the bad guy this time, instead of his usual hero role. I can personally recommend this movie, going against a number of the negative reviews that are posted here. |
