VHS : Girl of the Golden West
It was suppose to be in color, but with ongoing problems ...like always..
MGM shot it in black and white. Im so used to see Nelson and Jeanette in
black in white that i does not bother me anymore... The Love stories are
always a pleasure to watch and the signing usually melts me down.
There was some ongoing friction between the two stars when the movie was
filmed but it does'nt show. Lots of people can sing, but none can beat
the duo of Nelson Eddy and Jeanette ... Read More:

VHS : Paint Your Wagon
This move is a great timeless Classic. Great acting and good music. I did not know what to expect with Lee Marvin and Clint Easwood, two that were better known for hard gunfighting movies, in a musical, but it is great. I recommend this for all families. It will remain a part of my movie library for future viewing.

VHS : Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
If you like old movies, this is a good one. The story is not that great but the dancing & singing are very good. You realize what a good singer Howard Keel is & I didn't even know Jane Wyatt cold sing, and she is very good.

VHS : Can't Help Singing
Deanna Durbin's first and only movie in complete three-strip Technicolor was the 1945 box office smash CAN'T HELP SINGING. Deanna dazzles as a headstrong young woman who follows her heart and hitches up her wagon to a cross-country settlement convoy.

Caroline Frost (Deanna Durbin) is the beautiful teenage daughter of an important East Coast senator. She's in love with Cavalry officer Latham (David Bruce) and means to marry him, much to the annoyance of her family who have tried, quite unsuccessfully, to keep Caroline ... Read More:

Scenarist Ben Hecht's tract to ethnic toleration does not lack the production values and quality of acting necessary for its artistic success. Within the format of a Hollywood-style Western, it is an easy task for Hecht to insert his typical hyperbole in the form of some truly crimson prose directed against big business represented by expanding railroad interests. Edward Arnold gives a solid performance as Jim Knox, a railway plutocrat who is determined to manipulate and exploit a polyglot force of European immigrant workers, led by their ... Read More:

8.Calamity Jane starring: Doris Day, Howard Keel, Allyn Ann McLerie, Philip Carey, Dick Wesson
directed by: David Butler
April 01, 1992
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Calamity Jane
"Calamity Jane" is a wonderful film, made three years after the similarly plotted "Annie Get Your Gun." "Calamity Jane," however, is by far the superior film. Doris Day is perfect in the role of the tomboyish title character. She handles a physically demanding role with great charm and serves up a collection of great songs, including "The Deadwood Stage," "The Black Hills of Dakota," "Just Got in From the Windy City," and the Academy Award-winning Best Song, "Secret Love." Co-star Howard Keel is good, but it's Day's picture all the way. Day made lots ... Read More:

The film begins at a rodeo, Bronco Bob Mitchell has written many books, and sings. How much experience has he had in the real world? Willoughby and Duke work selling food at the rodeo. Comic skits follow. Willoughby learns how to play poker. The train stops and they learn about the local customs. They arrive at a Dude Ranch, at type of resort that is obsolete. There are comic skits at the pool. Bronco Bob joins a rodeo. He writes western novels because that is what sells. "Wildcat" is saddled and stunt doubles ride him.

VHS : Stay Away, Joe
I was surprised to read all the bad reviews of this particular film. Sure, this isn't a 'good' movie, but when considered as part of Elvis Presley's filmography, "Stay Away Joe" is darn near brilliant. At least you can tell Elvis is having a good time doing a very different type of role in a more contemporary style of film. And there's even several genuine laughs in the movie. As far as stereotypes and what not...big deal. This isn't great meaningful artistic symbolic cinema. This is a low-budget 1968 Elvis comedy. To take offense at anything going on in this or any other Elvis ... Read More:
