VHS : Bond: Thunderball
This has a lot of memorable moments, even though the underwater sequences are overlong, but a good villain, great Bond girl, and of course Connery. See it.

I remembered seeing this movie as a little kid! But, I really want to watch this movie again. I also want this movie to be on DVD. I think this movie really deserves to be on DVD.

VHS : The Soldier
This is not the fastest action movie out there but it is VERY COOL! How many other movies show the guys changing magazines in their submachine guns at the proper time? No shooting the guns all day without reloading! Has a good solid story line, some cool one-liners and a lot of neat stunts. This movie is worth adding to your collection. Now to get it on DVD.

David Wolper's full length TV feature revisted the subject of his Emmy winning Appointment with Destiny episode on the July plot but the result was far inferior to the original. Lots of historical inaccuracies and no drama. The viewer is not engaged with the characters. Definately movie of the week stuff.

VHS : Brother Cadfael Series 1 Box Set: The Sanctuary Sparrow, One Corpse Too Many, Monk's Hood and The Leper of St. Giles
These are the best of the series. It may be your introduction to the books or a chance to see the stories you've loved come alive.
These are the closest to the books (the characters and stories suffer some distortions) and perfectly cast and acted.

6.Tomorrow Never Dies starring: Pierce Brosnan, Jonathan Pryce, Michelle Yeoh, Teri Hatcher, Ricky Jay
directed by: Roger Spottiswoode

VHS : Tomorrow Never Dies
The final half hour is an overwrought shoot out aboard a stealth craft that is too long by 25 minutes. Nothing happens except a lot of fake bullets fly endlessly. Otherwise, the plot, thinly disguised as a spoof on Rupert Murdoch, involves the usual megalomaniac -in this case, a media mogul - bent on creating world havoc for his own gain. Brosnan is cool in the early going, and the opener, involving an arms bazaar and a nuclear bomb carrying jet fighter is great, as usual with Bond films. The story line overall is just so-so. The ... VHS : Walker Texas Ranger: Deadly Reunion
I would say this is the greatest Chuck Norris movie, no wait, the greatest movie of all-time except for one thing. And that is that all Chuck Norris movies are created equal and better then movies like the Godfather, Schlinder's List, Back Door Sluts 9, and Braveheart combined. Chuck Norris is a much better actor then Tom Hanks and Marlon Brando because he knows karate. Hell Chuck Norris invented Karate as well as Judo, Kung Fu, and Hamster style Jap Slapping. Do yourself a favor and buy this movie so you can call yourself a man. And ... Read More:

I recently bought this DVD along with "Bullit" because I wanted to see if my recollections of these two very popular films were accurate. In the case of "Bullit", yes. This movie is actually better than I recall back when I was 17 in 1969. McQueen should have won an Oscar for that performance. "Dirty Harry" is inferior in every way: script, direction, sound, and acting. I had trouble staying with "Dirty Harry" what with all the 70s clichés that kept popping up to spoil it. But "Bullit" was fascinating from start to finish. Like James ... Read More:

9.The Return of Sherlock Holmes - The Hound of the Baskervilles starring: Jeremy Brett, Edward Hardwicke, Raymond Adamson, Donald Bisset, Philip Dettmer

VHS : The Return of Sherlock Holmes - The Hound of the Baskervilles
I bought the whole Granada series and watched several other episodes before this. Of course, everyone is familar with Rathbone's version of this story. While I haven't seen it for many years, I do remember the eerie setting and Basil's tight portryal of Holmes (nevermind Bruce's Watson).
So I had high hopes for this, but I was quite disappointed. Just watch "The Blue Carbuncle" or "The Reheaded League", or even "The Solitary Cyclist" and see what Jeremy Brett can do. Some of the early episodes of this series are actually better than the Doyle ... Read More:

VHS : Brother Cadfael Series 3 Box Set: The Rose Rent, A Morbid Taste for Bones, and The Raven in the Foregate
These three mysteries, based in England during the Middle Ages, are really quite well done. Of the three I think A Morbid Taste For Bones was probably the best.

The Cadfael mysteries are not just good mysteries; they also provide an interesting look at life in the Middle Ages and how things were done, the role of the Church, Royal officers, etc.
