| This is one of the best versions of "Treasure Island". It has a really wonderful cast with Charlton Heston, Oliver Reed, Christopher Lee and Christian Bale. To whom it may concern: please put this on DVD, nice extras would be commentary with Lee, Bale and director Fraser Heston. |

| Colin Welland may have won an Oscar for his Chariots of Fire (Two-Disc Special Edition), but in his adaptation of the Louis Pergaud novel set in the early 1900's France and later filmed by Yves Robert in 1962, this move to Ireland lacks the playfulness and innocence of the original and makes these kids from two rival camps way more brutal and warmongering with hateful language. | Two things captivated me in these films. One was the incredible scope of Megan Follows' performance, as she plays Anne through three phases of her life. Simply marvelous. | If you're looking for a Book turned into a movie--this is it but in a very obscure fashion. This movie takes the stereotypes that Long writes about in his short novel and basically flips them around here. Here you have the American man, but it is he that is hopelessly inlove with the Asian "woman" (using that term lightly). She is the one that is full of decite and ends up betraying him. | Please, please stay the heck away from this dog. Basically, it's a bunch of street punks running around in diapers and women's makeup talking about "ultra-violence" that never really occurs, and the plot is even worse. This one gave me a massive migraine. I am truly not kidding about what this flick did to me! I remember watching it, hoping there was a point to all of it, but there truly wasn't. I'm a devout disciple of Ivanhoe, and a mesmerized fan of Anthony Andrews, so it feels like treachery to say that I've never been so disappointed in a film...What a CAST. But such meaningless drivel for dialog... True, this version DID include Athelstane, but to what purpose?
