1.Philadelphia starring: Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Roberta Maxwell, Buzz Kilman, Karen Finley
directed by: Jonathan Demme
February 14, 1995
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Philadelphia
This is, by far, one of the best movies. The story is moving, and will have you in tears multiple times. Tom truelly shines, and is one of the few actors that you no longer see as a person, but as their character. Very emersed. This will also question your thoughts and beliefs, and possibly make you reconsider the next time youre about to make a snap judgement.

2.Citizens Band starring: Paul Le Mat, Candy Clark, Bruce McGill, Roberts Blossom, Charles Napier
directed by: Jonathan Demme
November 11, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Citizens Band
Another rumination on the importance of and difficulties in communicating with the people who are closest to you. For which CB radio was the perfect medium in the 1970s. Paul Lemat is earnest to the point of being irritating. Candy Clark is pile of confusion and lust. You have to love them.

3.Caged Heat starring: Juanita Brown, Erica Gavin, Roberta Collins, Donald Heitzer, Mike Shack
directed by: Jonathan Demme
December 03, 2000
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Caged Heat
If you were a teen(male)during the 80's then this is a film for you. Trashy dialogue, corny story line and fantastic girly fight scenes.

I'll never forget the line "My Name's Crazy Honey".........

Get this film now and enjoy it.

4.The Silence of the Lambs starring: Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Scott Glenn, Anthony Heald, Ted Levine

VHS : The Silence of the Lambs
This review will discuss the merits of the now rare and out of print Criterion Collection version of the film. One of the questions a viewer needs to ask him or herself is whether or not the added expense of a rare edition can be justified.

The Criterion dics presents the film in a letter boxed widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 which appears to be the correct shooting format used by cinematographer Tak Fujimoto. The sound is standard 2.0 Dolby Surround. This is a fairly new film and the Criterion ... Read More:

VHS : Who Am I This Time?
This is a little gem -- a paean to community theater, the power of literature. Plus it's wonderful to see the young Susan Sarandon and Christopher Walken.

6.Swing Shift starring: Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell, Christine Lahti, Fred Ward, Ed Harris
directed by: Jonathan Demme
September 14, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Swing Shift
Swing shift was one of my favorite movies about WWII because it was
mostly about what was happening on the home front during that time. Most
WWII movies were about the military battles or what was happening
in Europe or in the far east.

7.Swimming to Cambodia starring: Spalding Gray, Sam Waterston, Ira Wheeler
directed by: Jonathan Demme
September 17, 1996
Average Rating: out of 5 stars
>>More Details
VHS : Swimming to Cambodia
Swimming to Cambodia is fundamentally an autobiographical monologue, and one only peripherally connected to the (excellent) film that inspired it, The Killing Fields. Those unfamiliar with Spalding Gray's works may be perplexed to read his self-centered, occasionally manic or depressive, and deeply personal ramblings. This book is, in a way, misleading; even more so than Shakespeare's plays, Gray's monologues are meant to be watched, not read. It's difficult to imagine his drawling New England accent, the ironic and self ... Read More:

VHS : Beloved (1998)
Tell me what you think of this plot: A child comes back to life to confront the mother who cut her throat, only she is a grown woman, but still talks like a child. Meanwhile this so-called ghost manages to seduce her mother's "boyfriend" who has come back after 18 years. The ghost manages to get pregnant by him. Then the "ghost", totally naked and pregnant is brought out on the front porch by her mother and disappears in a couple of minutes when a group of church ladies start chanting and singing spiritual songs from the ... 9.Cousin Bobby starring: Robert W. Castle

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Cousin Bobby
This is a unique and soul stirring documentary that will grip you and humble you, and perhaps, change the way you think about God, poverty and racism forever. As you are drawn into the world of Father Bob Castle, a Yale-educated white rector of a small Episcopal church in Harlem, you can't help but be in awe of this extraordinary man! Yet this is not the tale of some white liberal do-gooder "gracing" impoverished minority neighborhoods with his help. Rather it is the story of a very human man whose hard-earned presence in the heart and soul ... Read More:

10.Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense starring: Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steven Scales, Lynn Mabry, Ednah Holt
directed by: Jonathan Demme
October 26, 1999
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
Stop Making Sense is one of the truly great albums, and this video adds immeasurably to the audio experience. I was concerned about some reviewer's complaints that the video and audio are out of synch for the first couple of songs, but this doesn't bother me at all. I'm too busy soaking up the pleasure of watching an incredible group of musicians at work. Highly recommended!
