| I've seen this movie at least a half dozen times and love it every time. I never read the book, so I can't make a comparison but in the movie, I love the evolvution of the character of Willie throughout the story.
Besides being a heartwarming animal flick, it is a wonderful story about community. |

| This 6-hour long tape is not going to stop once you press play. You might rewind for a few instant replays, but you won't be able to do anything until you finish watching.
I was skeptical at first, thinking this was going to be some romantic hogwash intended for women only. But low and behold, Steinbeck's fiction proved as superior as they say. | This was a decent prison film that hooked the viewer & kept you interested in the plot. The characters were fun to watch & interesting. It appealed to the viewer on more of a psychological level. Overall, not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. Not over-the-top like many of today's prison films which heavily rely on blood & gore. | Back when network TV was at the height of producing the high quality mini-series, ABC premiered "East of Eden" in February of 1981. Originally broadcast as an 8-hour epic (including commercials), when it was released on video in 1984 it was highly edited, and came in at just 4 hours. | Sure it's old and no classic, but this small romance is well acted by both the underrated Timothy Bottoms and Linda Purl. The scenery of Banff National Park is gorgeous. It's got a nice mood to it, sort of a Continental Divide-ish feeling to it. My old VHS copy looks pathetic; it really needs to be in widescreen on DVD. |

| This film was well hyped when released, with trailers and ads talking about the power and efficiency of the Ingram sub-machine gun; what happens when hunting trips go wrong; and revenge. The movie only lived up to the hype in the first, and last scenes, but the concept is still sound.
