I've seen this movie at least a half dozen times and love it every time. I never read the book, so I can't make a comparison but in the movie, I love the evolvution of the character of Willie throughout the story.

Besides being a heartwarming animal flick, it is a wonderful story about community.

This 6-hour long tape is not going to stop once you press play. You might rewind for a few instant replays, but you won't be able to do anything until you finish watching.

I was skeptical at first, thinking this was going to be some romantic hogwash intended for women only. But low and behold, Steinbeck's fiction proved as superior as they say. Add to that the youthful Seymour, who'll leave you wanting to see more, and it's genuine entertainment. Today's TV shows pale in comparison. ... Read More:

This was a decent prison film that hooked the viewer & kept you interested in the plot. The characters were fun to watch & interesting. It appealed to the viewer on more of a psychological level. Overall, not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. Not over-the-top like many of today's prison films which heavily rely on blood & gore. This one has depth to its characters & I thought this was truly well done. It's based on a play by the same name. If you like good, offbeat prison pictures ... Read More:

VHS : East of Eden (TV Mini-Series)
Back when network TV was at the height of producing the high quality mini-series, ABC premiered "East of Eden" in February of 1981. Originally broadcast as an 8-hour epic (including commercials), when it was released on video in 1984 it was highly edited, and came in at just 4 hours. Some missing scenes include teenaged Cathy's affair with her school-teacher, and his subsequent suicide, and Charles' and Adam's experiences as young men, before they met Cathy. (If you look closely at the video box, you can see still ... Read More:

Sure it's old and no classic, but this small romance is well acted by both the underrated Timothy Bottoms and Linda Purl. The scenery of Banff National Park is gorgeous. It's got a nice mood to it, sort of a Continental Divide-ish feeling to it. My old VHS copy looks pathetic; it really needs to be in widescreen on DVD.

VHS : Shoot
This film was well hyped when released, with trailers and ads talking about the power and efficiency of the Ingram sub-machine gun; what happens when hunting trips go wrong; and revenge. The movie only lived up to the hype in the first, and last scenes, but the concept is still sound.

The story starts out with a great set-up when a group of ex-military friends (very good actors - Cliff Robertson, Ernest Borgnine, Henry Silva) venture out hunting in the Canadian wilderness. The story shifts when they encounter a ... Read More:

VHS : Bus Riley's Back in Town
While set in a specific time & place, Bus Riley's dilemma is a timeless one: how does a young, yearning, intelligent person break free of a restrictive society & its many alluring entrapments, and become an individual, following an individual path? Michael Parks delivers a rich, nuanced performance, ably supported by a fine cast. Ann-Margret is a delight as the luscious ex-girlfriend who draws Bus back into her very pleasurable web for awhile -- the film is smart enough not to make her a villain, but simply someone who ... VHS : Aliens Are Coming
Fortunately for humanity, the aliens that attempt to take over our planet match us in stupidity, but I don't want to spoil it for you by telling you who wins. It doesn't matter anyway as you'll be guffawing your way through this mechanical plot. Those aliens sure do have some spooky power to possess human beings with supernatural ease. Yet it avails them little since they fail to adopt any personality to disguise the subterfuge. Just picture it. Your spouse walks in the door home from work and presents no human affect whatsoever. ... Read More:
