VHS : M Butterfly
At first I didn't know quiet what to make of this movie. Jeremy Irons sure does have the talent to play "STRANGE" beyond words. I don't own the VHS, I have a movie on a CD, but still this is quiet an interesting movie. To love someone for 18 years and NOT know they are man, only proves, "Love is blind". After I watched this a couple of times, I grew to appreciate the talent that REALLY went into this movie. ONLY Jeremy Irons and John Lone could have pulled this off. If you are affended by same sex ... Read More:

This is one of Stephen King's really good movies. Christopher Walken is great. You really don't know what's going to happen next. And a great ending.

VHS : They Came from Within
Cronenburg loves to press your buttons. Any deeply troublesome idea, any frightful notion, any scouring feeling that makes you uncomfortable--he wants to uncover and examine it.
Shivers opens up in an inviting way. There is a depiction of perhaps a perfect suburban development. It displays the latest and greatest luxuries that modern technology has to offer. But this little community has some problems...
Mainly, some disgusting little parasites. A doctor decides to experiment with some venereal diseases ... Read More:

VHS : Naked Lunch
Conspiring monster bugs. . .ejaculating typewriters. . .inter-zone intrigue. . .
As a statement on addiction--interesting.
As a statement on writing--interesting.
As entertainment--duh?
Well-acted, well-made, but just, at times, so flat-out weird that it makes it, well--not enjoyable.

5.eXistenZ starring: Jude Law, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ian Holm, Willem Dafoe, Don McKellar
directed by: David Cronenberg
August 01, 2000
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : eXistenZ
[Existenz [IMPORT]Forget "The Matrix". Now, really forget it. It's a different movie. "eXistenZ" lives in a world, or really nested realities, all its own. Cronenberg is a master of mixing up reality with non-reality and physical with non-physical. I think one of the beauties of "eXistenZ" is the ugliness of the Virtual Reality world created by Geller's (Jennifer Jason-Leigh) half-mutant amphibian/half plastic game pod. The icky porting into it with an umbilical cord into the spinal column is so Cronenberg. I liked the way he had the characters ... Read More:

6.Spider (Dol) starring: Ralph Fiennes, Miranda Richardson, Gabriel Byrne, Lynn Redgrave, John Neville
directed by: David Cronenberg

VHS : Spider (Dol)
This was a movie with character study, and that is something that I like a lot. Ralph Fiennes was a very believable schizophrenic.

The plot of the movie was decently involved (but not overwhelming).

Especially good points:

1. The characters were developed in a certain way to lead us to think one thing, but it later became clear that they were viewed through the lens of schizophrenia.

2. One woman played several characters, and she did a great job with all three of them. That was a testament to training ... Read More:

VHS : Scanners
In my own personal experience, Scanners was one of those movies that everybody around you had seen and told you how great it was but you still hadn't gotten around to it. I did finally get around to watching the film and I have to be honest, I expected a lot more from my experience. It was good don't get me wrong, but personally from my enjoyment of classic cheesy 80s horror-esque type movies, this didn't fit the bill. The acting was wooden and the story quite boring, sure it's a film about people who can read minds, but when you have your main character, a man who didn't ... Read More:

VHS : Dead Ringers
Like many other known masters of horror like Tobe Hooper or George Romero, David Cronemberg is one of the most renowned and prominent directors working today in the industry. Only few talented filmakers sprang into public consciousness with such audacity and intelligence, from a series of low budget surprising shockers back in the mid 70's , untill today's acclaimed classic masterpieces of all times in modern horror, with the unmistakable mark of a true author, a gifted brilliant talent that explored with authentic passion, the limits and boundaries of hallucination, grotesque, ... VHS : Videodrome
Videodrome was a fantastic film by Cronenberg, I remember watching this film for the very first time just a few years ago and I was really impressed by this. I just thought that the film was more relevant and contemporary nowadays then it was back then. This innovative mix of science fiction, sex, violence, surrealism and horror has lost none of its touch over the years. I have enjoyed most of Cronenberg's movies and think he is one of the most underrated directors out there, this film definitely represents his own vision and was quite original I mean nobody would have thought about this concept ...
