VHS : Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas
My family and i absolutely LOVE this movie! We can't get enough and my girls go around the house singing the tunes and listening to them again online. Bound to be a classic in my opinion! Great creativity!

VHS : Jerky Boys
If there's one thing America can be counted on to provide, it is this: slapped-together movies looking to quickly cash in on the latest fad. Once in a while, this phenomenon can produce something truly special. (A Hard Day's Night, for example.) Unfortunately, you usually get stuff like The Jerky Boys, a cinematic train wreck featuring amateurish acting, a lifeless and predictable script, and tons of shamelessly recycled material from the Jerky Boys records.

You really have to love ... Read More:

4.Wise Blood starring: Ned Beatty, Joe Dorsey, Brad Dourif, Richard Earle, Betty Lou Groover

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : Wise Blood
This great, unjustly forgotten John Huston film has fallen by the wayside, and that's a real shame. A striking cinematic adaptation of the Flannery O'Connor novel, Wise Blood boasts Brad Dourif in the lead role, Hazel Motes, and Dourif nails it. When you see the film, you realize it would be really tough to imagine anyone else alive at the time being able to carry off the role. Harry Dean Stanton, as usual, adds his terrific skills as the "blind" preacher Asa Hawkes, and Ned Beatty is also along for the ride ... Read More:

5.Hobo's Christmas starring: Barnard Hughes, Gerald McRaney, Wendy Crewson, William Hickey, Lee Weaver
directed by: Will Mackenzie

VHS : Hobo's Christmas
I watched Hobo's Christmas on TV one year and I thought it was pretty good and had a great cast, especially Bernard Hughes and Gerald McRaney. It is a Christmastime movie that has some sad scenes but nothing too melodramatic or sappy and all in all it has a great message about love, family and forgiveness perfect for the Holiday season!

6.The Name of the Rose starring: Sean Connery, Christian Slater, Helmut Qualtinger, Elya Baskin, Michael Lonsdale
directed by: Jean-Jacques Annaud
July 07, 1993
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

VHS : The Name of the Rose
While a bit slow moving, this midevil thriller was quite good despite its flaws. The flaws, I think, were brought on by the fact it occured in midevil times and the world is a very, very different place. Still, this was a great movie in its challenge to the subject matter and the thinking of the time.

Sean Connery plays William of Baskerville who has recently arrived at a remote abbey with his young novice Adso, played by a young Christian Slater. Some strange events at the monestary have the others convinced ... Read More:

This movie is simultaneously hysterically funny and poignantly sad. A wonderful representation of the Irish culture, their resiliancy and ability to use humor to rise above tragedy. Barnard Hughes and Martin Sheen have a chemistry that makes the film work. I await its American DVD release.

VHS : The Producers
Newcomer Gene Wilder in his first hit movie plays the foil (fool?) to Zero Mostel's cagey, corrupt and over-the-hill broadway producer.

For fans of Mel Brooks you see the first glimpses of his movie madness and genius. Brooks pens some of the most absurd and hilarious songs ever written, and directs over the tops performances by each and every cast member.

Some might say the movie is perhaps a bit "dated" for younger audiences, but that didn't seem to deter laughs from the teens and youngsters at my viewing. I ... Read More:

10.Sea of Love starring: Al Pacino, Ellen Barkin, John Goodman, Michael Rooker, William Hickey

VHS : Sea of Love
Supposedly this was the film that brought Al Pacino back from the dead so-to-speak.

Um, for real?

Okay, so this is not a horrible movie, but Al Pacino is the films weakest link (or is that the script). The film is far from thrilling, which is sad because it had that kind of potential. It also lacks the sensuality that would have brought the film to a different level. We are expected to believe that Keller and Cruger have something real, something that would really compromise his safety, but I just don't see anything ... Read More:
