VHS : I Was a Teenage Werewolf

Despite its apt but risible title, "I Was a Teenage Werewolf," surprises in both the sincerity of its playing, as well as by its accomplished technical credentials. Campy confessional title notwithstanding, there is nothing about the screenplay that is deliberately parodic.

Effectively photographed by distinguished cinematographer Joseph La Shelle, and bolstered by an excellent musical score, the film thus provides a solid showcase for both its scenario and the performances of ... Read More:

VHS : Johnny Tremain
Johnny Tremain was a tiny Disney movie on early American History (or was it myth?). Yet it captured the minds and hearts of kids and adults of the time and helped spread some historic culture throughout the land.

Having said that, the modern perspective of things has changed all this and by today's standards it is at best a nice little adventure movie, but nothing more.

Many inaccuracies and liberties with historic fact have made it into what it is: a nice escapist movie.

The acting ... Read More:

This is a great movie, written by Blake Edwards. It's from '54. I loved this movie as a kid, and still love it today. Old movie buffs should all enjoy this movie. I would love to see this one on DVD!!!

VHS : Time Machine (1960)
This is one of the best movies ever made. This isn't just a classic, this movie is one of the movies that paved the way for other sci fi movies. This is as much of a classic as Wizard of Oz or Gone with the Wind and in my opinion this is better than both of those movies put together.

5.Spencer's Mountain starring: Henry Fonda, Maureen O'Hara, James MacArthur, Donald Crisp, Wally Cox

VHS : Spencer's Mountain
I read the original novel by Earl Hamner Jr. soon after it was published in 1961, but I somehow missed the 1963 movie until now. This is a fine film, heartwarming in an old way without being cliched. It's easy to understand how it inspired "The Waltons" television series, which drew on the novel's characters and its portrayal of American values.

The transfer of the movie's setting from Appalachia to the Grand Tetons surprised this reader of the novel. James MacArthur was too old to play Clay-Boy. When I read the ... Read More:

VHS : Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
A legendary shoot-out at the OK Corral is brought to life in one of the great western films with 2 legendary stars. The beginning with the title song by Frankie Lane sets the tone for the story of a classic struggle of unmitigated evil against the not-so-clean good.

7.Creature From the Black Lagoon starring: Richard Carlson, Julie Adams, Richard Denning, Antonio Moreno, Nestor Paiva

VHS : Creature From the Black Lagoon
The Creature from the Black Lagoon is one of those classic 50s drive in horror flicks that abounded during that time. It is still fun and I enjoy it. The picture and the black and white is wonderful. I only wish they had included the 3-D version too. I saw that at the movie theatre about 3 years ago and that was fun!

8.Seven Days in May (B&W) starring: Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Fredric March, Ava Gardner, Edmond O'Brien

VHS : Seven Days in May (B&W)
Some of the best actors in Hollywood are in this film, but the best performance, as far as I am concerned is by Burt Lancaster. When I read this book and saw the movie as a teenager, it scared me to death to think how easy it would have been to topple our government. I would highly recommend this movie for any age range, with the caveat that reading the book first would enhance the experience.

VHS : It Should Happen to You
It Should Happen to You is the story of a wannabe model named Gladys Glover (Judy Holliday) who is sick of her career going nowhere. She takes matters into her own hands after a pep talk from Pete Sheppard (Jack Lemmon) and rents a billboard on Columbus Avenue. She uses it to publicize herself putting just her name in giant letters. Nothing seems to happen, except she is asked to sell the billboard to a large company. Evan Adams the third (Peter Lawford) attempts to wine and dine Gladys into selling. She finally agrees, but only when she recieves eight more billboards ... Read More:
