VHS : The Warriors
I would suggest finding the original theatrical release of this film if you want to relive the memories from the first time you saw the movie and especially if you want to share it with a friend who has never seen it before. I think the director's cut is more for a true Warriors Fan-like myself. The original version was more suspenseful and in my opinion the tempo is more of a thrill ride. I do like the Director's cut with the added Comic Book cut away scenes but it just didn't seem to move as well as ... Read More:

3.Blood on the Moon starring: Robert Mitchum, Barbara Bel Geddes, Robert Preston, Walter Brennan, Phyllis Thaxter
directed by: Robert Wise

VHS : Blood on the Moon

Robert Mitchum is in top form in this unusual western, when he is initially persuaded by his former partner to bilk some naïve landowners. But in the road he decides to seize up the whole situation and refuse. The highlight of the film is the fabulous gunshots in the barrooms and in the dark forest.

Robert Wise as always unbeatable, a talented director who walked for so many roads. Just after that he would make the classic of the classic Noir: "The set up."

4.Road to Perdition starring: Tom Hanks, Tyler Hoechlin, Rob Maxey, Liam Aiken, Jennifer Jason Leigh
directed by: Sam Mendes

VHS : Road to Perdition
The only direction from there is down. Sam Mendes' sophomore feature film effort isn't quite as expensive or unsatisfying as Michael Camino's junior effort, Heaven's Gate, but it comes close. This is the problem of, pardon the expression, shooting your wad too soon. Where to start?

Miscasting: Daniel Craig being the only exception. How can you waste Jennifer Jsson Leigh in a bit part? Barely a bit part! Just because an actor can handle a part it doesn't mean you can or should cast them in the part. Newman ... Read More:

directed by: John Ford

VHS : Stagecoach
Stagecoach is without question one of the top three western movies of all time. It's a joy to see the young John Wayne come into his own in this great movie. An interesting sidelight is that the director, the renowned John Ford, suggested that Wayne do his classic look of putting his head down and looking up. He used that move from then on. In addition, thiis was the beginning of a long and successful relationship with Ford. The other actors gave great performances and Claire Trevor was at the top of her game. Watch it. You'll ... 6.Gore Vidal's Lincoln starring: Sam Waterston, Mary Tyler Moore, Richard Mulligan, Deborah Adair, Tom Brennan
directed by: Lamont Johnson

VHS : Gore Vidal's Lincoln
I loved the movie. If you are a fan of the Vidal book, you'll be a fan of the movie as it follows the book closely. Sam Waterson is great as Lincoln. One minor problem for me is his portrayal of Lincoln's hair- it was too stylish. Lincoln's hair was messy. Mary Tyler Moore is spot on for Mrs. Lincoln. As others have noted, the transfer to DVD is not in good quality, but the film is still very watchable simply for the movie.

7.Mummy's Hand starring: Dick Foran, Peggy Moran, Wallace Ford, Eduardo Ciannelli, George Zucco
directed by: Christy Cabanne
September 16, 1997

VHS : Mummy's Hand
In the 40's Universal was busy makin' monster movies! They made some of their best(The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man) and they made some of their worst(The Mummy and Frankenstein sequels). Don't get me wrong, I love all of these movies but, lets be honest, some of these films are down right silly. 'The Mummy's Hand' is a decent film as long as you look at it the right way, it's a fun picture. This "Horror" film plays up the comedy with a "wanna be" Abbott & Costello duo as the leads of this picture. This is a good thing as it makes the ... Read More:

VHS : Aerosmith: Big Ones You Can Look at
First off I must begin this review that this is a good collection to start off with if you do not yet own any previous Aerosmith albums. Admittedly there are other good songs that Aerosmith made that were recorded after this album (such as "don't want to miss a thing"). However as an earlier review posted stated this is a good place to start if you would like to hear some of their 80's and early 90's stuff at a budget price. Some of the songs that I really liked on this cd are "love in an elevator" (9 out of 10),"rag doll" (10 out of 10),"Janie's ... Read More:

9.Talk of the Town starring: Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, Ronald Colman, Edgar Buchanan, Glenda Farrell

VHS : Talk of the Town
A man who escapes from jail just before his sentencing for arson and homicide hides from his pursuers with a beautiful landlady played by Jean Arthur. She has another border, a famous lawyer who fails to see the human side of the law and the consequences for the accused. Discussion about fairness and how guilt is determined make up a considerable amount of the dialogue here but it is hardly worthless. A good movie with a little food for thought.

10.Rookie of Year starring: Bruce Altman, James Andelin, Eddie Bracken, Gary Busey, Tyler Ann Carroll
August 30, 1994

VHS : Rookie of Year
I purchased this DVD after re-viewing it on a TV where I work out. This film was essentially unknown to the kids I showed it to (5th graders)since they hadn't been born yet. It was an enjoyable film with lots of humor, and the kids really liked it.
