| I decided to rewatch Pierce Brosnan's Bond swan song once again to see if it was as bad as so many seem to think it is. I had much warmer memories of it myself. Unfortunately I must conclude that it really IS that bad--at least the second half. The compelling opening sequence features a vulnerable 007 being tortured by the North Korean army and even boasts a cane-seat chair, though it's not put to such sinister use as the one Daniel Craig sat on. | Introduction: `Photographing Fairies' is an obscure British film from '98 that to my knowledge was never released to American theaters. It was available in limited quantities on VHS but has yet to appear on a REGION 1 DVD.

| I liked it.
It doesn't follow the music or the style of the old Disney Attraction. But the old Disneyland show was stupid. I can't imagine sitting in a stretched out version of the Disney Show. It would never work. As a stand-alone movie it was really good. John Hiatt wrote and performed most of the Bear's songs, and they were honest and straight forward. Really good music. | I greatly enjoy BBC movies of the classics, and this did not disappoint. You do want to make the time to watch, or you could find yourself getting lost by splitting your attention. Give yourself an afternoon or evening and enjoy. |

| This is a fascinating example of how a movie adaptation can be almost excessively faithful to a book -- transcribing dialogue line for line, including voice-over narration -- and still get the details and nuances almost entirely wrong. The diversity of the novel's social world has been completely flattened out: everybody talks the same, regardless of whether they're from Kentucky, Minneapolis, Chicago, or Queens. | I'd say if you're over 40 this movie has a lot of appeal. Yes, I took my 15-year-old, and he enjoyed it too, but old age is the place we all hopefully get to, and Eastwood and his friends are entertaining in this space action story about profession and life after retirement. Yes, the plot is a bit thin, and the non-stars are 2-dimensional, but humor and attention to detail make up for it. And there's just enough drama, and fast flying, to get your hearbeat going. Careful, though, not too fast! |

| Yes, watching The House of Eliott is quite a bit like watching paint dry... Farrow and Ball paint in Porphyry Pink, whilst sitting in a comfortable armchair with a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. Meaning this is lovely for those of us who prefer the slow drip of Englishy Atmosphere to a big shot of American Action. Unfortunately all of the BBC productions nowadays, even the new adaptations of Dickens and Austen, are filmed and cut in the requisite "Law and Order" style which in my opinion has become exceedingly tiresome indeed.
