VHS : Superman II
At remember as soon as I finished watching the first Superman movie, I was straight online to get the rest. I ended up buying Superman II, and Superman Returns, but adding Superman III & IV to my wishlist. Thank God I didn't buy the lot. Because that would have been a big mistake.

Before people start judging, I have not seen the Richard Donner cut of Superman II. Judging my some reviews, it sounds better, but there's also a lot of reviewers who say this version, directed by David ... Read More:

VHS : Superman the Movie
great, enjoyable movie. beautiful soundtrack. just wish r. donner had done more with the man of steel just like g. reeves. foiling a bank robbery, bending steel bars, jumping out of a window, fight scenes with the bad guys. the scene when the bullets bounced off superman in the tunnel should have been left in the theatrical version. it's the 30th anniversary of the 1978 movie. i'm sure WB will re-release an expanded edition with all the deleted scenes that were never shown. i have VHS copies of the TV ... VHS : Far from the Madding Crowd
The new DVD is a disaster--still cropped rather than 2.35x1 and lacking the original stereo soundtrack. Warner Bros. has botched a great opportunity to present this beautiful film in the manner it deserves.

This is perhaps the only decent DVD of this movie available. The previous no-extras release was pan-and-scan, but the print appears to have been a tad cleaner than the one used for this wide-screen edition. The extras are all right: The best is about how the film came to the big screen. The weakest is the oddly edited collection of outtakes. The "behind the scenes with..." extra is good, but it is clear that the interviews were each only a few seconds long and nothing like the extended commentary you'll hear on, say, ... Read More:

VHS : The Collector
I HAVE SEEN THE COLLECTOR FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME LAST WEEK AND I MUST SAY THIS IS THE MOST SUPERBLY THRILLING/CHILLINGLY ROMANTIC AND LENIENT KIDNAPPING MOVIE EVER. TERENCE STAMP PLAYED THE NICEST CAPTOR YOU CAN EVER IMAGINE, HAVING GREAT LOVE AND RESPECT FOR THE OBJECT OF HIS AFFECTION-THE LOVELY MIRANDA GREY- (PLAYED BY SUPERB ACTRESS SAMANTHA EGGAR)!!! THOUGH GREY WAS FRIGHTENED AND OVERWHELMED BY BEING STAMP'S CAPTIVE, YOU HAVE TO ADMIT HE PROVED HE TRULY LOVED HER AND TOOK GREAT CARE OF HER AND PROVIDED HER MEALS,BATHS,AND EVERYTHING ... This is a powerful, moving story on human purity of soul and courage vs alienation, hatred and the heartless, unbending character of military (also applicable to military-like) bureaucracies. This is an old story and movie, with great relevance for today's world.

This had a Da Vinci Code feel, though it was out before it... and was MUCH better. It was easily understandable, and a fun ride. There are moments you definately don't see coming, and the story itself is a great idea. It's low tech, and all the cgi and such, is really beleiveable. Nothing over powers in this film. It is a good old fashioned character peice. You can get attached to them, and still be pulled deep into the story without too many effects or computer images. I highly enjoyed this film. James D'Arcy is definately an unrated actor. He was very good ... Read More:
